ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (AP) — The owner of the newly named Rockingham Speedway and other race officials say the track will be the home of two stock-car races in 2008.
Track owner Andy Hillenburg says the Carolina 500, a 312-lap race sanctioned by the Automobile Racing Club of America, will be held May 4.

United Speed Alliance Racing President Gene Cox says that group will finish its 2008 season with a race at Rockingham on Nov. 1.

Hillenburg is the 1995 ARCA Re/Max Series champion who bought North Carolina Speedway on Oct. 2 for more than $4 million. The speedway opened in 1965.

Thank you Andy Hillenberg for buying the track and bringing racing back. I'll have to try to get tickets to that. :beerbang:
