ARCA Carolina 500 at Rockingham

There are 50 cars, the race is 312 miles (500 kilometers).

The cars are rolling on the pace laps. :)

I've got some friends at the track. I'll be anxious to hear their report. They may be a bit bleary-eyed --- they were at Richmond last night. :D

I was thinking about going down. Maybe next year. I just didn't want to drive back up to Waldorf from Rockingham.

GREEN FLAG, they're racing at Rockingham for the first time since February 2004!

Wow, only half of the field pitted on lap 14.

It sounds like they don't have a tire limit here.

Alli Owens had some sort of problem on the startafter a really good qualifying run, but she's in 19th now. :)

Joey Lagano's gonna win a lot of races. I don't care if it's ARCA, he's puttin' an asswhooping on those cats.

Alli Owens is holdding her own. Maybe, after this one, all the critics will shut up.

Yes, but there are a LOT of people of the frontstretch --- up high. Why sit down low if you can move up.

I certainly didn't expect the stands to be full.

I would LOVE to hear the scanner chatter right about here. Those drivers are hating having a tire limit.

I'll see that "yawn" and raise you another one. Only 4 cars were good enough to be racing --- the rest didn't belong on the track from the beginning.

That was an extremely boring race.

At least the best car/driver won.

If you think that was a yawner, you should have seen the race last night at the fame Bowman Gray Stadium for the opening race of the featured modifieds. Before the race, we had to endure a short speech from Brian France congratulating the track for 60 years of NASCAR. Okay, on to the featured race of 24 cars on a totally flat, 1/4 track. One pass the entire race under green and that was at the very start when the outside pole sitter beat the pole sitter to the first turn. After that, it was follow the leader for 200 laps. It took 166 laps for the leader to catch and pass the slowest car on the track, one that was over a second and a half slower than the pole sitter in qualifying. At least at the Rock, you had some passing.

That was fun- hope they have a bigger crowd next time. Can't wait to see the refurbished Darlington next week!

wow 15th 6 laps down

That's great. :idunno:

She brought the car home, in one piece. She also missed quite a few of the wrecks. :idunno:

That's great improvement. 6 laps down or not, she completed the whole race without wrecking the car, blowing the motor, or blowing tires out on the track. :idunno:

Besides, it's still a top 15. :nyanya: :idunno:

Thats what they mean when they say "Dirt is for racin asphalts just for getting there" lol

We have our train races, but the next week the track could be back to three grooves all night

I've got one word to say about that race: Yawn!

I went to 3 cup races at Rockingham. I know the track has a lot of history but there was never a close race when I was there. We decided a long time ago the racing there wasn't worth the drive.

That's the ARCA series for you.

Rockingham should see about getting a CTS date. I doubt NASCAR will go there again, but I'd ask and do what I could to get them there.

all I can say is THANKS ANDY.............
We got two TOP ROW ticket at START/FINISH for less than 50 BUCKS!!!! (They had some kinda early bird deal....) we got to the track at 9...... parked right by the track (less than 100 feet..) for FREE....... Had a ball.....
As for the race...... it must not have been good coverage, cause there was two and three wide racing all day!!! the race for the top wasn't much, but the last 20 laps with Joey and Schrader was awesome. As for the crowd, I thought it was a pretty good turn out..... love to have seen alot more, but still, it was ARCA....... after the race, they let fans go down to the pits... it was great. reminded me alot of the old days of NASCAR...... There gonna crown the Hooters champ there in NOV....... we'll probably be there for that too.....and New years, they are gonna start 99 cars (street class I think they said.......) holy moly....lol..... That should be ashow.
I will say this though.... I hope they get the drink machines worked out.... the first one I got ( Cheerwine) tasted like a diet drink...... but hey, the rest were bottles..... can't fuss about them......lol.... had a blast........
I'll be puttin some pics up later this week if ya'll are interested......

wow 15th 6 laps down

More critics who don't look at the whole picture.

OWENS FINISHES 15th AT ‘THE ROCK’

“To be able to finish at ‘The Rock’ with the car in one piece in a 50-car field is huge and really awesome,” said Owens. “We’ve been able to run all the races without a scratch on the car. It’s a trend we hope to continue.”

There, I thought I'd clear that up. :)

15/50 doesn't look bad to me at all. :idunno:

i thought it was cool that they started 50 cars. I wonder when the last time was that any series had done that on an oval track.

It sounds like frank kimmels street stock series at the end of the year is going to be a good race.

I was at the race with one of my clients. It was a pretty good day; nice weather. I started a thread to see if anyone was going, but I didn't see any replies. Anyway, from the pit side it was a nice race, but typical ARCA. And yes, the stands looked very empty.

I'd love to go to an ARCA race. Nothing close and convinent though.
