TOLEDO OH (1-26-09)-The ARCA RE/MAX Series officially kicked off their portion of DIRECTV Speedweeks 2009 with a Hauler Parade through the City of Daytona Beach, Florida, on Tuesday Morning.
ARCA RE/MAX Series Race Team Transporters, led by the Daytona Beach Motorcycle Unit, the Daytona 500 Pace Car and ARCA's newly-wrapped ARCA Nation Mobile Marketing Unit, left Daytona International Speedway and traveled East on International Speedway Boulevard, over the International Speedway Boulevard Bridge, North on A1A to Seabreeze Blvd., over the Seabreeze Bridge to Mason Avenue, South on Williamson and back to Daytona Int'l Speedway.
Once arriving back at the racetrack, ARCA RE/MAX Series Team Transporters entered the garage area, where teams began preparing for the 46th Annual Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200. The race precedes the Budweiser Shootout and airs live on SPEED at 4 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, February 7th.
From NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year contenders to former ARCA RE/MAX Series champions, the entry list for the ARCA RE/MAX Series' 2009 season opener is nothing less than extraordinary. In all, more than 51 teams pulled their transporters into the ARCA RE/MAX Series garage area on Tuesday in time for the first day of technical inspections.
Tuesday's technical inspections focused primarily on fuel cells. On Wednesday, ARCA RE/MAX Series officials will spend the day making sure that every team's Daytona car conforms to the 2009 ARCA Rule Book. Teams will also be issued laser-cut, anodized restrictor plates manufactured by Cometic with openings 7/8" in diameter. In addition, the ARCA RE/MAX Series will issue rear Bilstein shocks and rear Eibach springs to race teams through BSR Products. The series does not issue front springs or shocks but the equipment used on the racecar must meet minimum specifications.
Following safety and technical inspections on Tuesday and Wednesday, the ARCA RE/MAX Series is scheduled to be on track Thursday with a five hour practice session in preparation for Saturday's race.
