I love short track racing (Taylor's Version)
Ashley Allgaier laid in to SPEED, complaining that coverage was only being given to Ty Dillon and the Venturini cars (remember, Wendy Venturini works for SPEED) during SPEED's two hour, tape delayed broadcast of the ARCA Racing Series 125.
Grant Enfinger ran inside the top-five all race long and finished in the top-five and never got mentioned during the SPEED telecast. Then, after the race, SPEED interviewed Ty-Ty, and interviewed people who didn't run the race.
Ashley Allgaier finally cut loose on Twitter, to the ire of SPEED, about the coverage being lopsided to the well funded teams.
This is a complaint many inside ARCA have had for YEARS about SPEED. Teams, drivers, owners and sponsors have begged ARCA to try to take their telecasts to VS or regional networks. Their list of reasons is long:
1.) SPEED does not air the most popular ARCA races (Toledo, Salem, Springfield, Berlin and DuQuoin)
2.) SPEED only gives coverage to the major teams in the series. This has popped up time and time again when a Ty Dillon, Ricky Carmichael, Scott Speed or Joey Logano run the series. Yet other networks that have had a one-off deal with ARCA, while not being able to produce the same quality broadcast as SPEED, have given air time to several drivers and teams.
3.) ARCA is constantly shafted for NASCAR programming, and despite the cost being steep to ARCA, SPEED does not promote the ARCA telecasts. Even when Danica ran the Daytona race, the broadcast of the race was not promoted on SPEED or any other FOX Sports network.
4.) SPEED just doesn't give a crap. If ARCA was on a smaller network, it would be an opportunity for both the network and the series to grow as one. SPEED doesn't need ARCA, it's simply a cash revenue source for FOX Sports.
VS, on the other hand, aired taped delayed broadcasts of the Whelen Modified Tour in 2010 and promoted them heavily.
The announcers on SPEED generally don't have any knowledge about the series. Rick Allen and Phil Parsons are NASCAR guys. The people at SPEED who know ARCA don't even get a microphone to report from pit road (Bob Dillner, Ken Schrader, Kyle Petty) during the races.
