Okay so I am not sure this was the smartest move for this guy. I get the whole " I am pissed" but think logically here. You drive for JGR, arguably one of the best teams in NASCAR with great equipement yet you deicide to:

Go to a team that has three cars, two unsponsered, one with a full-time sponser, part-time driver and a company that just laid off two other drivers and staff and shut down its Busch team.

Was this a bight idea??

I know in my life, I've chosen situations that were more comfortable in place of positions that may be more lucrative or that had a better chance at advancement. I am happy with those decisions...money & the publics perception of success are not always as important as putting yourself in a place where you "fit in" & that makes you happy.....

Yeah, but this is racing where you are measured by wins, championships, and the ability to draw a sponsor. If you can't do the third thing, you aren't going to have a ride and can't do the first two or drive for that matter. Considering Ginn is about to implode before they sell to DEI, this isn't a good move.

well think about this....he moved from a race team that currently only has 3 teams and had plans for him to move to a 4th team.

He moves to team that is falling apart and will probably be bought out by DEI. With the 4 car limit, he probably will not be driving a cup car for DEI......so why move from Gibbs? I know he's pissed....but thats a pretty stupid move.

Yep, Almirola needs his butt kicked!!!!! JGR is a solid team and offers a lot
of opportunity. Almirola is just impatient and the magic of being a CUP driver
has influenced his judgement. He WILL be one sorry unemployed boy, and not too far in the future either.

But, and yeah it's a big but, if he can get into a Ginn car and show some improvement over what Nemechek or Marlin did that would go a long way in securing him a ride if Ginn folds or goes with DEI. And, really if you're DEI and Menard's money is not a factor would you rather have Almirola or Menard?

i agree barley...but someone is going to replace Jr in the 8 car...it'll probably be Kyle Busch, then you have Truex, i have a feeling Regan Smith is going to get the 3rd car over Paul Menard, and the 4th car could be open for Aric or maybe even Paul Menard, but lets remember that DEI and Ginn both have a number of other drivers in their Driver Development programs.

Plus you never really know what Mark Martin is going to do.

“I can’t thank Joe Gibbs Racing enough for what they’ve done for me. They allowed me to get to this position by giving me a chance at a time when I had a lot of desire but little money. The equipment they gave me and the people they surrounded me with made me a better racecar driver and a better person."
– Aric Almirola after signing with Ginn Racing

We have our own reasons for doing what we do when we do them. For Amirola to change teams and sign with Ginn is probably right for him at this time.

People scoffed at Dale for leaving DEI, but DEI owed him nothing and vice versa. The change was what Dale felt was right for him at this point in his career.
People questioned Mark Martin when he left Roush, and the same can be said for Mark.

Ginn may be questionable as a stand alone race team, but they are an organization rumored to become a part of DEI and if so, Amirola most likely has covered his bases before making the move.

If Amirola hasn't done his homework and is making this change because of anger toward JGR, Aric will be getting a double whammy. A life lesson in maturity and another in humility.

 Even Cypress Trout has figured this out. :) Not bad Teasip !!!! ;)

I like Aric, and I think he made a good call.

He's not getting the experience he needs over at Gibbs because they're more interested in having Cup guys run Busch races. That's understandable.

I wouldn't drive for a team if they pulled me out of a race I was dominating so they could have some Nextel Cup guy run the rest of the race.

Aric will be safe, DEI will pick up another driver and drop Menard. Paul Menard's not a good driver.

^^^^^ Agreed. Mark Martin, running part time is 15 rungs higher in points than the nearest full-time Ginn driver. Its not the equipment, its the talent. Aric might be onto something here.
