An Indianapolis man has been arrested on suspicion of beating and kicking a NASCAR Busch Series driver in the city's Broad Ripple area, police said.

Police said they believe Mark Tharpe, 25, attacked Steve Wallace, 19, on a street in Broad Ripple late Sunday or early Monday, beating him and kicking him in the face.

Wallace, the son of NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace, finished 17th in the Kroger 200 Busch Series race at Indianapolis' O'Reilly Raceway Park on Saturday.

Police didn't comment on a motive for the attack on Steve Wallace, whose father was part of ESPN's broadcasting crew for Sunday afternoon's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Steve Wallace declined treatment for his injuries.

Tharpe was being held in jail Monday afternoon with bond set at $15,000, 6News' Jack Rinehart reported.

Oh the hormones these young stallions posses. I certainly hope the attack was over anything else and not his NASCAR affiliation.
Good thing he seems not to be hurt too badly.

The lowlifes were trying to pinch Steve's watch...

Steve Wallace OK After Attempted Mugging: Steve Wallace is OK following being attacked in an attempted mugging Sunday evening in Indianapolis. Wallace suffered only minor cuts and abrasions in the attack and will compete as scheduled in this weekend’s Busch Series event at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. Wallace was attacked by a group of at least three men upon exiting a convenience store in Indianapolis Sunday night. Upon entering the convenience store, the men commented on Wallace’s watch. After exiting the convenience store, Wallace was jumped and attacked by the group of men, who were attempting to rob him of his watch.(RWI PR)(7-30-2007)

Lowlife's come in different types. These were obviously lowlife, same as the dog killing Vick. Glad to hear that Wallace is OK.

There we go again.

"dog killing Vick" OMG! We all kill the little beasties. We swat flies. We POISON all the creepy crawlers around the house. We set mouse traps to do away with those little fellas. We PULL the claws out of our housecats. We raise cute little chickens, only to kill and eat them before they reach maturity. We raise all those calves, goats, pigs and sheep for food only to kill them while they are still young and tender..
And then when we see a FEW folks spending time at their hobby of raising, training and fighting dogs...we get our panties in a wad.
I am only trying to call attention to folks that if you are a pita person..Ok be a pita person! But if NOT then hush and MYOB!
Betsy:rolleyes:

I hope I don't get in trouble for spanking my Monkey! :D

Uh Betsy, it's PETA (and I'm a member of People Eat Tasty Animals).
Vick is a jerk, just like the idiots who jumped Steve Wallace.

I hope I don't get in trouble for spanking my Monkey! :D

I know that this thread is about Steven Wallace but Betsy opened the can of worms and I need to reply.....

Betsy, a large, heavy object must have fallen on your head. If you call dog fighting a "sport" then you need to have your gourd evaluated. If you had done any research at all on the Vick allegations you would realize that this is simply not right. There are photos in the news of some of the dogs taken from Vick's property. Some of the dogs were missing legs, ears, eyes, etc.
Some of the dogs were "lucky" and died and didn't have to to be subjected to any more pain and suffering in order to "entertain" a bunch of idiotic morons. I hope Vick's football career is over for good. I hope he gets a lifetime ban from the NFL and any other major league sport.

Here is a small excerpt fom the news on the allegations in which one of Vick's co-defendants pled guilty to today...
The 18-page indictment against Vick and his co-defendants accuses them of animal cruelty in graphic detail and also alleges that Vick gambled on the fights. During a search of Vick’s property in April, 54 pit bulls were recovered, along with a so-called rape stand used to hold dogs in place for mating, an electronic treadmill modified for dogs and bloody carpeting.

The property was searched again in June, and investigators uncovered the graves of seven pit bulls that were alleged to have been killed by members of the dogfighting ring, after sessions to test the dogs’ fighting ability. Sometimes dogs were starved to make them hungry for the opposing dog, the indictment said. Fights ended when one dog died or surrendered. According to documents, losing dogs were sometimes put to death by shooting, drowning, strangulation, hanging or electrocution.

If you call this type of behavior a sport then you are a sick person.
Michael Vick should be neutered so that there is no chance of him reproducing.

Kat & Bobby

 Kat I am an honorary member of PETA!
Bobby I can relate to folks that carry their pita badge on their shirt. And I can relate to the hunters and horse racers and even the dog fighters.
I cannot understand the folks in-between! What others do is absolutely none of these folks business.. If we eat animals what difference does it make how they are killed? Dead is dead in my thoughts.
I just remembered that in some places cows are kept to provide BLOOD! They are cut with a knife on a regular basis and their blood is taken for food!
If folks in other parts of the world raise dogs for food why worry about a few that are raised to fight and are used for sport?
If a person is against some seemingly cruel acts against animals that person should be against them ALL!!! And join a group, and wear the badge.
Betsy:rolleyes:

We, as humans, are warm-blooded with canine teeth and forward-facing eyes; we're supposed to consume meat by design. I don't have a problem killing and eating something in order to sustain life. Plants are alive and people kill and eat them, too. What's the difference??

Fortunately "what others do", in this case is other people's business; it happens to be against the law.
I hope that Vick and his cohorts are found guilty and punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Buckaroo has taught me a lesson. It is OK to read some members' posts but for goodness sake, don't take them seriously. They are only trying to stir the nest. I have learned to LMAO at some of the posts. :D

But he has such an innocent face...surely it's a case of mistaken identity...

Isn't it common knowledge that Indianapolis is basically a cesspool? I'd have a few bodyguards if I planned to walk the streets there.

I don't think I would want to walk around there with a fancy watch on my arm.

I found out that the area Steven was in is well-known for its very lively bars and night-life. Now, he's 19 --- what was he doing down there?

Bet he had an ID that said he was 21. ;)
