As if today, I have been married as many years as I wasn't.

It's pretty strange to think about it, but I have now been married almost (by a few months) half of my life now. I'm really looking forward to taking my wife out to dinner and maybe a movie. Anniversaries are one of the few date nights we get anymore. We've been through a lot, good and bad, but it has certainly made our relationship stronger for it. Kind of like an old oak tree that bends with the wind and endures and grows stronger from it.

I remember that same thought on the anniversary of being married as long as I was single.
The last two sentences of BenOne's quote tell the story of marriage. Going through a lot, good and bad, and how it makes your marriage stronger, just like the old oak tree. Not all marriages are destined to work, but the ones that do, where the partners give each other total respect, reap great rewards.
