I know, I know, a person is innocent until proven quilty. However, if quilty they should hang him up by his crotch and lower him to the dogs.
 
Culpepper is available...lol. IMO, Vick is one of the most overated QBs in the league, nothing but hype when it comes to him.

I saw that on the news. Poor dogs. Unfortanly there are lots of people like him out there abusing animals.
 
You know what is wrong here is that Vick was a good draw in that he was an exciting QB and made things happen. It's a shame that he follows in the footsteps of many before him. You can take the man out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of the man. I'm afraid that the Vick family is just out to lunch, thinking that they can get away with anything because of their talent. So sorry for them. I just hate to see this happen, but it's not the first time nor will it be the last.
 
As a quarterback, Michael Vick is extremely overrated. He can run and has a very strong arm, but he is not even close to accurate enough with his passes to be an effective NFL quarterback.

As a person, he is a piece of crap. I am not a big fan of PETA or any of the other wacko animal lover groups, but what Vick is accused of is just disgusting. Killing dogs who wouldn't fight, along with other things, is just bizarre. The biggest question to me is "Why would Vick risk everything he has been blessed with for dog fighting?". That just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Why would his brother ..... I will not go into all the charges and accusations but seeing him stomp on the head of an opposing player is sickening.
Buckaroo hit the nail on the head I believe.
 
You know those eggs we all had for breakfast? The hens that laid them are kept in small pens for 50 weeks while they lay their eggs.. After 50 weeks they start producing fewer eggs... So a new crop of hens replaces them in the small pens.. Then the older hens are ALL taken to the chicken killing place and their throat is cut...they bleed to death so their meat will be neat and clean in the packages... Those big wings and breasts we all have had come from the hens that previously laid our breakfast eggs..
With this going on EVERY day how can we even think about a few dogs chewing each other up for sport? They are after all just dogs.

Maybe you should read a bit more about this case. It is more than dogs chewing each other up. First of all, they are trained to go for the jugular vein. Second, If they don't fight good they are wet and electrocuted among other things. I am an animal lover though.

These dogs sure deserve better. Unfortunately the fight scene occurs in most states and most of the dogs end up mauled to death as new dogs make their way into the "sport".:mad:

Kat they are just dogs! Supper for many around the world! Animals do our bidding. If we bid some of them to fight for our pleasure..so be it. Other animals give us milk, eggs and meat.. So why single out one dead aminal to harp on?
How can shooting animals with an arrow as a sport be any "nicer" than breeding other animals to fight and then letting them do what their genes tell them to do?
Some of us have dogs that were bred to sit in our laps and be petted.. Others have dogs that were bred to hunt or fetch.. A dog is just a dog! Bred to do our choosing. Lets get our pantys in a wad over all the dogs that are being eaten around the world. They are bred to be tender and meaty!

C'mon Patrick how can you NOT see things the way I do? Are you living in a closet? Don't you read or get out occasionally? Animals in general are used by humans for their needs or enjoyment. How can we pick out 2 or 3 and say THEY should not be used as the others are?

Even if they are/were used in general for there needs and enjoyment, where does that give people a right to be cruel, mistreat and kill them? That makes no sense. I'm no animal lover. My husky's are treated like royalty.
 
I don't use animals for enjoyment.

Horseback riding is one thing. What these people are being accused of is something different.

Not at all. What I'm saying is one persons cruelty is not EVERYONE'S cruelty.
Take Patrick for example. He thinks it is Ok to put an IRON bit in the mouth of a horse and tie a saddle on him and ride him for Patrick's pleasure.
Ok? So is that cruelty? Perhaps to some it may be.
Others think NOTHING of it to have a hamster in a cage all by himself day after day and month after month for THEIR pleasure. Is THAT cruelty?
How about all the Goldfish taken out of their realm and put into small aquariums only to swim there till they die from a disease they would NOT have encountered in the wild..
Even folks with housecats now have them DECLAWED for the pleasure of the human owner..
Ever think that a dog tied or chained or penned in a small pen would RATHER be fighting to his death with another dog???
So just what IS cruelty? WHO should make the rules? Are all animals taken into consideration when these rules are made?
Would we think better of the dog fighters if they ATE the dogs after they killed them?
I am writing this hoping it will perhaps wake someone up a bit. We are, after all, talking here about dogs!!!

I don't understand why these dudes cannot stay outta trouble. I mean is there a regulation that says you have to contiously get into all kinds of trouble when you're a rich pro football player? why cant deez dudes juss stay out of trouble. It pisses me off when I turn on ESPN N see this stuff all the time. They oughta juss have a one strike law fo fools. First time offenders are suspended fo a year without pay. That would settle all of this nonsense.
 
Betsy, once again I have no idea where to start to begin a debate with you on this subject. Your ideas are so far removed from normal thought I will just leave you to them.


To others who have posted here, it seems to most of us that raising animals for food and then killing and eating them seems to be an acceptable and logical practice. Hunting an animal and eating it is something I have been known to do and certainly condone.

I certainly don't condone the enviromental nuts who say that loggers shouldn't be able to harvest trees because of a spotted owl or something being found in said trees. Putting animals above humans in nearly all cases is wrong in my opinion. A few exceptions I can think of would be when not doing so would harm the earth, and therefore mankind, in the long run.

Raising dogs, ****s or any other animal for the express purpose of causing their death for the gambling and viewing pleasure of a bunch of idiots seems to be wrong in any civilized society. Torturing animals for pleasure as these idiots are accused of is even worse.

These are just my opinions and as such they may be wrong to some. But then having a right to voice your opinion is what is so great about living in America.
 
Our cat, that we adopted from a rescue shelter, will never be declawed. That is worse than having a person's nails removed as they take the 1st knuckle. This was a feral cat that was either born in the wild or tossed out by some owner that just didn't care.
Our dog we similarily rescued but who's tale is infinitely worse but I won't bore anyone here with her plight. We picked her out on a Sunday and she was to be put down that Tuesday.
In all we have rescued over a dozen dogs and several cats and even a rare SA bird that had been brought into the country illegally. I regret that we had to sell our home in the country and move to the city. That's another sad story. But, now we are reduced to only being able to have the 2.
Our caveat is to adopt those animals that no one else would even consider adopting. We have devoted our selves to making some animal's lives better than they would otherwise have been.
But then I don't expect everyone to understand. I don't ask you to...
 
C'mon guys, Betsy has become a true troll and feeds on anything that you throw her way that is negative of her. If you want to carry on an educated conversation with this woman, then do so, but know that she will take you to the end of the Earth to put you down. As for me, I find that just about everything that comes out of her mouth/fingers, is absolute hogwash. :rolleyes:
 
Now we all know the old saying, "innocent until proven guilty" but you have to call a spade a spade (no pun intended here). OJ Simpson was found not guilty, but who in the world believes that he didn't do it? Certainly not the following jury who heard the civil suit. Michael Vick as has been said, is a talented young individual who excelled in football. Having done that didn't make him an upstanding citizen. The evidence is overwhelming in this case and it will take a really bad prosecutor to muff this one, but I'm not going to say that he will be found guilty. What I'm saying is that I already believe that he's guilty. One person who said that he's been in dog fighting for 30 years told of how he wanted to go up against one of the biggies in dog fighting and that was said to be Vick. In this case, I think that he's going to have to prove that he's NOT guilty.

No that is not cruelty. I ride horses too. You don't go out and try to kill the horse every time you ride it. That don't make sense.:rolleyes:

Betsy, I never said it was OK to do that to a horse. In fact I'm keeping my opinion about the way horses are treated to avoid stepping on toes.

As for dogs, yes, I have one. It stays at my mother's house and spends his days outside. After dark, he's in the house and helps her to feel some security at night.

He is, however, able to leave the prioperty at his leisure during the day and needs only to bark at night to be let out. Where he goes then is completely up to him.

He chooses to stay because he knows there are people who care about him and isn't subjected to the cruel and inhumane treatment that some people seem to feel is okay.

Finally, Betsy, I have no probelm debating anything with you except for politics and religion but you''ll have to stop putting words in my mouth for me to have any chance.

Patrick you kinda/sorta help me make my point! What we do with OUR animals is Ok! But what someone else does with theirs...? Well that may ruffle our feathers a little! They are just animals! Ours or anyone else's. Cruelty is yet to be defined by EVERYONE.
We use animals for our own pleasure. If that means putting the dog in the house at night to warn us if the unexpected comes around...is that cruel?
If we saddle a horse and ride him for fun...is that cruelty?
If we put hens in small cages and eat the eggs they lay and then after 50 weeks KILL them and fry em up...is that cruelty?
How about taking the young away from cows and killing them and feasting on them...is that cruelty?
Or having a small bird in a cage, or a fish in a tank, or a hamster in a small cage, all for our own pleasure...is that cruelty?
We all use animals in one way or another...yet we scream at what someone else does with HIS animals!
Think about it. Why even worry or think twice about the other guy's animals?

You people need to wake up!!!! LAWS are made by people that don't know a whit about what they are making laws about!!! LAWS are made by people that want another VOTE!! So they can stay on the dole..
LAWs are made to make certain people FEEL good.. And others make money..

What an outlook on life you have there Betsy. How the hell you can be happy is beyond me. Living with laws that you don't agree with must be terrifying at the minimum. I suppose you must live in your own little space and only see what's happening on the outside via the computer. I truely feel sorry for you. :eek:
