just looked up kevin harvicks pole speed from last year and noticed it was 4 mph faster this year. this is a cooler time of the year, but it might be so cool that could hurt speeds a bit. those that said the sky is falling are missing it. like I have always said hp isn't as much of a big deal as many people think.

But the cars will be soooooooooooooo slow without that horsepower
Granted, the track temperature this weekend is way cooler than what it was back in September so I don't think this weekend is the best indicator. The track temp. this weekend is actually cooler than the ambient temperature was back then, so you can imagine how big the difference in track temp. is. Once we start hitting some other tracks where you can compare similar race dates we'll see if there really is a difference or not. What matters most, anyways, is whether or not the throttle response (not the speed) is the same.

When I see and hear them run at Phoenix I will know for sure, I havent missed a lap turned by a cup car since the track was resurfaced, we were even there for the first test. We may have missed a closed tire test though, they had one or two that were closed to the public

I try to avoid Joey Logano age jokes because he and I are the same age. I'm not really successful.

It also weirds me out that there's a Daytona 500 winner that is younger than I am (Trevor Bayne).

I'd wait till a race weekend lines up temperature and time of year wise to really gauge the changes in speed. Temperature just plays to much of an effect, obviously did here.

Wait until you are old enough to be every driver's dad or grand dad. That will do a number on you and don't sell yourself short by saying you are not really successful. Just because you are not a millionaire does not men you are unsuccessful.

Thanks for saying that Skoal. I never did make the first million.

I was advised it is the hardest so I think i'll try for the second now.

Oh no, I meant that I'm not successful at avoiding Joey Logano age jokes.

My own personal success though is a pending matter. It sucks to be a 20something in today's economy.

My grandkids think that I'm a millionaire when I buy them an ice cream . Makes me feel like one. If you have kids , raise them around their grand parents . Free babysitting and all the ice cream they can handle.

Juice'm up with sugar and caffeine and hand'em back to their parents. :D

They go slower on straights but faster in the turns, I think the speed in the turns is the biggest influence on a lap time.

I understand what you are saying
