August 1, 1982: Darrell Waltrip beats Buddy Baker to the finish line by one car length to win the Talladega 500 and sweep both races at Talladega. He becomes the third driver to sweep both Talladega races in the same season, joining Pete Hamilton (1970) and Baker (1975). Dale Earnhardt later does it twice (1990 and ’99), and Dale Earnhardt Jr. becomes the last to do it in 2002.
