August 24, 1991: Alan Kulwicki gets his first of two Cup wins at Bristol Motor Speedway. It is the only track in which he wins twice. Kulwicki dies five races into the 1993 season in an airplane crash, cutting short a noteworthy career after 207 Cup races, five victories and one points championship. Kulwicki's other three Cup victories come at Phoenix (1988), Rockingham (1990) and Pocono (1992). His second Bristol win comes in 1992.
