Hello all
This is a non-race question... How many of you know someone with Autism? My son is 6 and was diagnoised at the age of 2.5. SO besides him, I have come to know A LOT of others and most of those are boys.
Just wondering......

I'm a special ed teacher and have had several students with Autism spectrum disorders in my class. I also do various home therapy/tutoring programs for children with Autism spectrum disorders (currently working with 4 families, 1 with twins with Autism).

I know a young boy who lives on my street who is autistic. He's a great kid, rides his bike past my place all the time, always has a smile on his face and a quick wave if I'm outside and is always wearing his Tony Stewart helmet.

What's realy scarey is that now 1 out of 150 children is autistic.80% are boys.

My daughter has add, and that's har enough to deal with. She is now 38 and anti-depressants help.

I've had several autistic children --- usually fairly mild forms --- one young man was even in my Gifted/Talented class.

They were usually a pleasure to teach --- challenging at times --- but really wonderful children.
