For the first time ever, race fans will have the opportunity to choose what time the green flag for a NASCAR race will wave. Auto Club Speedway is giving that option to race fans across the country to choose either a noon or a 4:30 p.m. (both times PT) start time for the Auto Club 500, the West Coast Premiere of NASCAR on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010. It's up to the fans to have their say. Tell us: early start time or late start time. And feel free to give us your reasons. Just like a true election, the choice with the most votes wins. Fans must vote now before the poll closes! To vote, visit Decide The Start Time - Auto Club Speedway.

I could not find the option to eliminate this race all together but if you do, please post the link.

I was thinking the same thing! :XXROFL:

Auto Club isn't a "bad" track, but it definately doesn't need to have two races a year. Nor does it need to be 500 miles.

I think that is a great idea. I think I'll vote to let Jeff and Jimmie start an hour ahead of the other 39 drivers. That way even if they have a problem that should give them plenty of time to fix it. :D

More and more I DVR the race and watch at my convienence. Normally Monday but it might be as late as Tues or Weds before I do. Yes I might know who wins or pulled the bonehead move. Fast forward is a good friend.

The sun no longer rises and sets on the start time,,,,as it did before. There's just too much I want to do then waste 4 hours plunked down on a Sunday afternoon in front of the TV.

So the start time for me matters not.:)

I do the same here. I DVR 90% of the races and watch them sunday night. There is just too much to do on the weekends to waste it on the couch.

I DVR 100% of the races.

I'm rarely at home during the day to watch a race live, but if I am I'll still record it. I watch most of the night races live, but still record them.

Just in case I want to watch it again. I must have watched the last 2 laps of the Nationwide race in Montreal a dozen times.

that's a great idea tha I think NASCAR should pick up on...... I mean, come on, let the fans vote for the schedule next year....... maybe put a few new tracks on the ballot, like, oh I don't know........eldora.....lol....

One of those dates would be serving a much better purpose at Gateway, Portland, Iowa or New Jersey.

Yeah, Portland really sounds like a winner when it comes to weather.

And New Jersey? What the hell is in NJ?

We have 2 races in Pocono, NH, and Dover as well as one in Watkins Glen.
People in the northeast have plenty of races to choose from.

Besides, no one wants to pay the rip-off tolls and hotel rates just to get to NJ for a race. The tolls in Maryland, Delaware and NY are outright robbery.

Iowa needs more seats and more places to eat before they could be a serious contender. Give them a few years to mature and that might be a good place to consider.

Gateway is good and has the support structure in place. Not sure how many seats they have but at least they have the food and lodging thing in place. And it is a nice track.
