I am officially in baby watch mode, the wife was diagnosed with preeclampsia on Tuesday and has another dr's appointment this afternoon. Luckily she's at 38 weeks so if for some reason they have to induce labor today or anytime soon the baby is at full term.

Needless to say I'm a nervous wreck, but that's to be expected right?

Good luck and yes you are suppose to be nervous. This ya'lls first?

Your first child is a very scary time, but also a time you will look back on as one of the most amazing things you have ever been through, if not the most amazing.

One thing I can tell you from experience, child birth is kind of easy compared to the first few days and weeks afterward. The lack of sleep and the wife's hormonal changes combined with the obvious stress of having a very small human being that is dependant on you 24/7 is something you simply can't prepare for. Just so you know, you are not alone in that and, this too shall pass, and you will all be closer for it. The three of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement.

We have been scheduled to induce her on Wednesday, just a few more days now. I totally can not wait.

do you know if it's a girl or a boy? any names picked? you are gonna post pics of the baby right???? just excited for you. hope all goes well.

Ive been meaning to get back here and post an update but the past week has been crazy. I'm finally back at the office and have some time to post.

Lucas James Fields was born July 6th at 11:48pm, 7lbs and 15 oz and 20 inches long.

Mom and baby are doing wonderful. There are no words to describe how awesome the past week has been.:D

That is awesome. Thanks for the update. My first child was a big baby boy also. He was 9lbs and 8oz and 22 1/2 inches long. It's funny that that was over 17 years ago and it still seems like it was yesterday in a lot of ways.

great news gp. i'm very happy for your entire family. :)

you don't want to post a picture to the board. post them to a free image sharing site (there are tons of them), then just give the url to them here. flickr has been around a long time and is one that is widely used. there are others just as good if you check around.

lets see if this works:
