Mooresville, N.C., November 12, 2003 – Bang Racing announced today it will field the No. 42 truck for driver Mike Skinner instead of the No. 3 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series during the 2004 through 2006 seasons.

According to Alex Meshkin, the owner of Bang Racing and Chief Executive Officer, “We are listening to our fans and there are mixed feelings. We certainly understand that there is a lot of history and passion with the No. 3 and want to respect those feelings…we are excited to be a part of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and feel that any number that comes onto the track with driver Mike Skinner and Bang Racing will be a winner and a competitive force.”

Now I think that is silly. That was Mikes # in the truck Series, not Dales. What the heck, are we supposed to do away with the #3 now? Going to have to come up with another symbol to represent the trice position in the numeric system because some equate it to DE??? Dumb, Dumb, Dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree silly reason to change the number. The #3 has to make a comeback eventualy. Mike ran the #3 very successfully in the trucks and who a championship or two in that number. Both Mike and Larry have worked with Dale so I see it somewhat fitting that they would be the first to bring back the number, and not some joe blow that has never even spoke to Dale.

I really don't think that silly is a good word for it. More like stupid. The #3 in CTS has nothing to do with Dale Sr. I think that is carring things a wee bit far don't you think.

If you people remember the #3 was painted exactly like the cup car and owned by the same man, so there was some affilation to dale even though he never raced the truck, personally I didn't like the news about skinner racing the #3 only because he was affliated with RCR. I see other racecars with the #3 and it does'nt offend me because they were never affilted with dale. Personally either they should retire the #3 or RCR should relese it to DEI and jr. change to the #3

Are you for real??? ^_^

I still stand by my statements above, but was just wondering.

You'd really rather see someone with no connection to RCR and Dale run the #? Someone that wouldn't give a crap about what it represents to millions of people over a couple of guys that would probably bust their butts to continue giving honor to the number. Having total understanding of the meaning of the representations of that # to millions of people.

do you honestly think that skinner is going to run competively next year with a new team, new never proven make in the CTS, hell listen to the name of the team BANG racing. Now if skinner came back to RCR and raced the #3 I would have nop prob with that you know he would be competitive.

LOL ... touche...... I did think the name "Bang" racing was fitting for Mike though. :dual9mm:

Yes because Larry Mac is gonna be the crew chief last I heard.

I wouldn't have any problem with the #3 in CTS at all although it would be nice if it was in a competitive car. To me it wouldn't be using the same style of 3 since it is copyrighted. Eventually the 3 will be back and it would probably help if it started its way up through the ranks. I don't really agree with the idea of Jr. running it unless he says that he wants to run it. He has made his mark with the #8 that was his grandfathers number so it might also have special meaning to him on many levels.

I was actually excited when Mike first said that he was going to drive the #3 in CTS. That was his number and he did well with it.

I think not running the #3 on the truck is silly. I would love to see the number back on the track.

Are you serious about skinner running the 3 in cup? He wrecked Dale more times than anyone else when he was dale's teammate. I have no problem with skinner running the 3 in the truck series. He has a long history of running that number and people have to seperate the two. If nascar retires (which probably won't ever happen) the #3 they should also retire the #43.

"I see other racecars with the #3 and it does'nt offend me because they were never affilted with dale." In reference to this comment made by Steveluvs3, I believe he is refering to the guy down at the local track that has the 3 on his car. He may have had that number for awhile, he may have picked it in honor of Dale, but he has no real connection to RCR and Dale and there should be no problem with that.

I don't think the best crew chief in the world will help that team in it's first year
