What do you folks think about the banner ads I've added? I tried to think of your interests when picking which ones to use, but if you think they're annoying just let me know and I'll remove them.
 
They do not pop up on this end. Right now I have a little box with an x in it and it says Houston Texas next to it.
 
It's your board, and if banner ads help with revenue, let them be. We all can either ignore them or click on those that are of interest to us. (I have already placed 1 order :) )

Paul, nice avatar :lol: but I hope you're not smoking again.
 
Did you really kat? That will definately help if you placed an order after clicking on a banner. :)
 
I agree, if they help w/ revenue keep them. As long as they're not pop-ups or annoying neon blinking, they don't bother me.

I empathize, cuz I have tried to quit so many times but I still smoke.SIGH
One thing I have done tho, is gradually drop to one of the lowest in tar and nicotine. As the ad says, it took a long time to learn to smoke so what makes you think you can quit just like that. Some can, but most can't.
 
Banner ads are OK with me. I'm used to them everywhere else, so no biggie. If it helps with the cost, I'll click one every so often. (Big of me, huh?)
 
I don't have a problem with the banner ads. The they help on your end that's fine with me!

As far as the smoking...I quit Sept. 9, 2001 and it was the hardest thing I ever did. Sometimes I think man just one drag, but I know I would be right back to a pack a day if I did.
 
Dee Dee, I quit smoking just a little over 3 months ago (see sig) and while it hasn't been the easiest thing, I have actually TRIED to take a "puff" off of a cigarette. It was really gross tasting and I was happy for myself that I actually gave it BACK to the person it belonged to! :rolleyes:

And, BTW paul, what ever on the banner ads. They don't bother me. Maybe when things settle down I just might click and "purchase" if I find anything interesting. :ph34r:

That's Awesome. I can't stand the smell of it now. But I am still afraid one puff and I would be right back to it.
 
Well, I go home and want to take a shower immediately. The office I work in is a "smoking" office. If you don't like cigarette smoke, you better not enter. I thought it would be very difficult trying to quit and that it would make it just that much harder, but it hasn't. B)
 
You know I didn't realize how bad my friends who smoke stink!! :D Until I quit. For awhile I kept asking people "did I smell that bad?" everyone of course said no.

It's true about how much smoking dulls your sense of smell and taste you just don't realize until you quit.
 
That is so true! I really didn't know how bad my clothing, hair and anything that was covered in cigarette smoke smelled. Now I just think.......I don't smell like that anymore! B)
 
Back on topic...

I don't have a problem with banners though the side banners are distracting and reduce forum viewing area.

But that's just me. B)

I agree with you on that one Highboy.
 
I just hit the one for recordsbymail.com. Emailed the dude about some of my more collectible LPs. I mentioned in the email that I found him via this site. So I get a commission, right? :P

If he gets back to me and buys some of my (in the way) collection, drinks are on me! I cross-checked a few titles with what he has in stock. All I can say is, he knows his stock very well.
 
OK the top banner was fine but the side banner is annoying!!!!
 
Top banner is OK. I find the side banner can be distracting if it keeps flashing or moving. But, if it helps the bottom line, I don't have a problem with them.
 
I concur, banners don't bother me but the side one is alittle annoying, can you move it to the bottom, then I don't think it will bother anybody.
 
Banners are everywhere and I'm used to them. Yeah Paul, if you move it to where no one can see it, it defeats the purpose. Keep them and find more. Who knows, maybe I'll find something I want. ;)
 
Do you get a commission if we click on the banners and let them open or do you have to order something?
 
They don't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I have seen several of interest and clicked on them to check them out.
 
Personally i hate adds of any kind, but i do understand the cost thing. The side banner is especially annoying though.
 
Yeah, I'm find with the top one but I can't stand the side one. Could you put both on the top next to each other?
 
I found away to get rid of the side banner. That was to open my favorites folder and keep it open!! :D
AS long as no more banners show up or Pop up banners don't show up i will be fine!!
I do understand you having them!!!
 
The banners aren't so bad. I didn't even notice them until I read this thread. As long as they aren't blinking or flashing, they aren't a bother.
 
Well that's an assumed evil. Pop-up ads are the work of the devil, i hate those. But it seems like more and more sites are using them.
 
well I dont see no add all I see is like some typin. for example right now it says Atlanta Falcons and thats it. Any way Get some STEELERS adds lol
 
Keep them and use the tons of cash they bring to get us a built in spell checker. My spelling stinks.
 
I am pretty bad at spelling too!! That would be a cool feature!!
 
If you want my opinion, you should save spell checking for people who contribute through the ads or by sending you money. :)
