Bayne into the wall in first practice

Oops! Trevor Bayne has hit the turn 3 wall in the first Cup practice today. The Wood Brothers have rolled out the backup car. Guess Trevor didn't get enough sleep this week.

It's being reported that the right front tire let go. Doesn't sound like it was any fault of his own. Oh well..... it's still gotta suck to go from the Daytona 500 high to that low on your fist lap of practice.

But then again, I now read that it was also being reported as brake issues. Who knows?

Along with Bristol Motor Speedway and Food City, the City of Knoxville is planning a welcome home rally for Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne.

The event will take place in Market Square from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, February 28.

According to a news release from the city, ESPN Analyst Dr. Jerry Punch will be the master of ceremonies.

Speakers will include BMS Speedway General Manager and Executive Vice President Jerry Caldwell, Mayor Daniel Brown, Food City President and CEO Steven C. Smith and Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett.

Fans are invited to attend the rally.
