My daughter is with FEMA and has a search and rescue dog. Last night she was told to "be ready" to be sent to tornado strike areas this season. 12 hours between here to where ever is the goal.
Based on the intensity of the storms that have occurred in cooler then normal weather so far they're anticpating vicious storms occurring "in season" when it gets warmer.
They'll be rotating dogs and handlers as much as possible to prevent burning them out.
Why couldn't she work in a office or sumthin'??
My heart goes out to those people that live in those areas
