DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR has fined Jon R. Wolfe, crew chief for the No. 1 Dodge driven by Johnny Benson, $2,000 for an infraction discovered Feb. 20 during NASCAR Busch Series post-qualifying inspection at North Carolina Speedway.

Wolfe was penalized under Section 12-4-A of the NASCAR Busch Series Rule Book (Actions detrimental to stock car racing) and Section 12-4-Q (Any determination by NASCAR Officials that parts and/or equipment used in the Event do not conform to NASCAR rules: unapproved front spring).

I don't understand that, why wasn't it found in pre-qualifying inspection? Why does it always happen to the guys that qualify up front or race up front? You hardly ever hear of this from the guys in the back of the field. I just wonder if a front spring helped Johnny in any way to get the pole position, if so it should have been taken away from him.
