I've seen a bunch.

Best:
KISS - the first time I saw them, I cried. The first time I saw them in makeup, I cried. The last time, I cried. NO ONE even comes close live IMO.

Also very good - AC/DC, Ted Nugent, Iron Maiden.

Worst:
Night Ranger. I left.

Also terrible - Great White. They just....stood there.
Warrant - they suck anyway.
White Lion. Vito Bratta is a pompous jerk.
Ratt. The only band in the world with a deaf soundman.

Best: Status Quo
Best: Deep purple

worst:some aussie group from the 1970s called lobby Lloyd

Grateful Dead - On the Quad at Vanderbilt

Played for almost 6 hours, No song list, no sets, just played.

Worst: T-Rex

Best Live Band (that I'm going to see this weekend): The Clarks.

Worst: A band called Fighting Gravity that opened for The Clarks once.

Man, I am a HUGE T. Rex fan. Wish I could have seen them.

Best...Iron Maiden

Although Ozzy put on a pretty good show when I saw him with Carmine Appice on the drums. Also, believe it or not the Beach Boys put on a really good show when I saw them years ago at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Even though I'm not by any means a fan of their music, it was amazing how many songs I knew. I think what made it so cool is that everyone knew all the songs and participated. It was cool. Tom Petty was excellent also.

Worst...Journey!!!!!!!!!!!

I expected it to suck but went as a favor to my sister. They sucked beyond my wildest expectations.

Best: The Clarks
Worst: Some of the bands I have seen open.

Best: Grateful Dead

Worst: Marilyn Manson

Didn't know you were into the Dead HS...very cool.

Wouldn't say they were the best, but one band that completely shocked me at how awesome they were live (because I can not stand them on the radio) was Sugar Ray. Saw them at the 9:30 Club when they shared the bill w/ Everlast a couple years ago. It was Nothing like that cheezy pop crap they play on the radio.

Best......

Delaney And Bonnie And Friends

Big Brother and The Holding Company

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer

Mama's Sour Grapes....oh that was us....does that count?;)

Worst? Those guys (whoever they were) at Arizona Charlie's last week.:bleh:

I agree with TN-Ward-Fan!!! Kiss was the best. I only saw them once and that was on their farewell tour. It was a hoot! That was probably the best concert I have ever been too minus Skid Row. They really sucked!! I think their sound man was deaf as well. Ted Nuggent also played and was great!! He puts on an awesome show plus he and I share a lot of the same poitical beliefs.

Best: Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms' tour...

Worst: Sonic Youth, opened for Neil Young...pure noise....

I'll have to go fairly recent here...

Southern Culture on the Skids (from NC!...I see them every chance I get. I spent New Years Eve 1999-2000 with them at the Double Door in Chicago)

Reverend Horton Heat (just saw them again a couple weeks ago at a tiny club in Atlanta, GA...called "the Earl")

Queens of the Stone Age...probably the best band around right now, IMO. They proved it at the Riviera this summer...

WCR....

I've just recently gotten into Queen of the Stone Age. I have got to say I am totally blown away by these guys. I mean, as innovative and fresh a sound as it gets. These guys are by far my fav right now.

Listening to their Rio show and it's mindblowing.

These guys just flat out rock.

I'll have to check them out later, can't download sound clips on the work puter. Anyone I might be familiar with you could compare them to?

Hmm, they're kinda heavy.

To me they sound like a mix of Fugazi, Radiohead and System of a Down.

Yeah...if you like QOTSA, check out Kyuss. The two main guys Josh and Nick came from Kyuss.

Also, give Fu Manchu a listen...they'll blow you away too. Josh used to play geeee-tar with them too I think way back when...

Dave Grohl (drums) and Mark Lanegan (voice on a couple tracks) are amazing on the new album as well...

Fugazi I am familiar with. Not bad. Anything like Ministry?

Maybe not as "mechanical" as Ministry...

Queens are just raw modern rock and roll, none of the rap/metal stuff that's polluting the airwaves. These guys just pick up their instruments and rock. Very gritty and loud.

They're pretty difficult to categorize TN-Fan. If you had to put a label on them though...you'd have to use the "Stoner Rock" tag. A lot of reviews I've read about them use this categorization...same holds true for Fu Manchu.

I will most assuredly check them out. God knows we need some real bands these days. You know, the type that actually PLAY an instrument. I had abandoned hope. Thanks for the tip.

Foo Fighters are another of my favorites. Never knew about Kyuss until listening to QOTSA. Josh may very well be a genius as far as I'm concerned.

I saw Allman Brothers and they were just awesome.
I saw Pearl Jam and they were not very good.

My first concert was KISS when I was 13. My 2nd concert that same yr had Dokken, Metallica, Ted Nugent, & Aerosmith. I can't decide between those two and the Damn Yankees/Bad Company tour a few yrs later as the best.

Hands down without a doubt the worst.... (just so ya'll know that I was a young teenager, and I DID NOT repeat did not pay for these tickets, they were FREE) Milli Vanilli :bleh:
