Lets eliminate some and go with the modern era drivers, I see three that really shine and one of those no longer races

So my man Kevin has the 9th highest Top 10 percentage of modern era drivers and would have three championships ('10, '15, '16) under the old points system. I dare say he's one of the best to ever do it :growl:

He has done fairly well I guess ...... damn that was painful

Did you expect him to be higher or lower?

The ones that got me were Terry and Brad. I was NOT expecting them to be so low/high.

I didn't expect Martin to be on that list, Brad ? well he ain't no slouch.

Some of those guys like DW, Petty and the Labontes have 7 or 8 years of full time racing but no wins after they were past their prime. If they retired even 5 years earlier than they did the numbers would be even more impressive.

You could go back and add a * beside those who have won a championship.
I noticed the bottom two are both Champions.

I wonder what Bill Elliott is if you take out the owner driver years

Fair but I'd say most of these are comparable. Guys like Elliott, Rusty, Dale Sr and really most of these guys won a race or two per year until they retired. So with the exception of Harvick and Truex I expect all these modern guys to drop over time. And who knows what will happen to KDB.

A follow up on Jimmie Johnson. Even if he races through 2021 without a single win, he'll still have a 11.4%. win percentage, higher than Dale Sr and just below Gordon. That Top 10 percentage wouldn't look so hot though.

Martin Truex stats surprise me

Me too. Pretty cool how he has carved out a very respectable career after floundering for a such a time. The guy could be a two time Champion without that late caution at Homestead. Great person too. Neat story.

I couldn't agree more! Some of the guys stuck around long after their prime for purely monetary reasons. I wonder what their percentages would be at some arbitrary cutoff line.

Unreal.

I still can't tell if KB fans are trolls, JJ and KB are just on totally different tiers. It's like MJ and Kobe

There are a lot of things you “can’t tell”.

People support who they support and are often given to exaggeration, flights of fancy and wishful thinking. That applies to both sides of this and other arguments.

Meanwhile, Bristol is up. My favorite races of the season. Let’s go, Blaney.

Blaney choked -- just about ruined my early evening, if it weren't for Chase stepping up like he did...

Why Blaney, why? Follow the sticky tracks and you would've been fine...

Maybe he is used to racing on a race track without a 4 foot glue patch :windows:

He just got the "New Track Record" on the previous run, so he knew what to do. He got too ambitious and blew the corner, and admitted as much in the interview...

Oh well, can't wait to see some short track racing!

I can see Jimmie falling to 12% and KDB going on a rampage in that time though. Who knows?
