We haven't done one of these in a while. But as I was watching First Blood with my son the other day I got an idea to start one of these.

Feel free to vote early and often.

Best Man Movie of all-time?

my first pick...

First Blood

I almost agreed with that, Sylvester Stallone has a great performance in that, however, the book is much much better.

Rocky is up there on my list also. Gotta root for the underdog

However, I going to go for Bullit as the best man movie ever. That Steve McQueen car chase scene cant be beat.

The original Gone In 60 Seconds was another good one...much better than the Nicholas Cage remake.

Butch & Sundance or Cool Hand Luke...Paul Newman...racer/guy's guy...maybe even that hockey movie of his...SlapShot.

Die Hard
I agree. I thought of that one too. One of the best.

I also thought of Cool Hand Luke, but I didn't think of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid though.

How about...

Falling Down (awesome movie)

Magnum Force

or

Billy Jack?

Oh, now Falling Down is an excellent choice, I mean, who can't kind of identify with that guy?

I know I'm butting in, not being a guy--but I asked the hubby and his choice is----I can't believe I'm even going to type this:

Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry

Full Metal Jacket wasnt bad, however after the Paris Island Basic Training scene, the movie goes kinda crazy.

Also near the top of my list is Bad Boys II ! ^_^

That's actually a good movie.

I'm surprised you even heard of it!! I hadn't till he MADE me watch it! <_< And I don't get Falling down! We went to see it (another one of those made me things!) and I fell alseep! I just didn't like it!!! But to each his own!!! :p

I tell you what, I could relate to that guy today. I was about one more a-hole away from going postal.

'Amazon Women On The Moon' was an entertaining movie, but not what I was talking about ^_^

The Godfather (all of them)

Dog Day Afternoon

Marathon Man

I think Rocky's I-IV all fall into this category, now Rocky V? I don't know what the hell that was all about, I really think it could have been a decent movie on its own had it not been a "Rocky" movie...too bad they screwed that one up. My theory is that when you buy the box set, you get four movies and a target for skeet practice.

I thought Rocky V was pretty good, Rocky travels back to his roots in Philadelphia, beats up his apprentice Tommy Gunn. I think Rocky symbolized the old style of boxing, the guys who didnt care all too much for the money but lived to fight like Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano for example and Tommy symbolizing the new money-driven style of boxing like Mike Tyson perhaps. All in all, it was an above-average way to close out the series although I think they couldve just expanded it further....

I hear a Rocky VI is in the works, bringing back Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, and for some unknown reason bringing Dolph Lundgren to play Ivan Drago, again, and no I am not kidding. Frankly, I dont know what they plan to do, but it has to be pretty wacky.

Oh my god how could no one mention "THey Live" staring Rowdy Roddy Piper. Best movie ever in any genre.

There are a lot of them for sure, but my own personal fav is Where Eagles Dare with Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton. Love that movie.

They will have a wheel chair death match.

How about 'Pale Rider'? ...."nothing beats a good piece of hickory" was a classic line.
Right on as usual 97. That was a classic line.

That one was right up there with "They drew first blood, not me"

Interesting, I read First Blood, the book by David Morrell, there were a lot of things that didnt make the movie cut there.

In the book, Rambo meant for the town to suffer heavy losses, and casualties on a war like scale however, in the movie, Rambo only kills the police officer on the helicopter, wounds that guy who had the search dogs and Teasle. The movie really portrayed Teasle as more of a mean-bigoted type guy, while in the book, Teasle was portrayed as a hero and treated Rambo pretty well.

I guess the intent of the original story was for Rambo, who like most Vietnam Vets at the time was mistreated, basically spat on as they came home from the war, hassled from town-to-town and given no thanks for his service, the intent probably was for Rambo to come back and show the country the brutality of war, and how bad war can really be.

Of course, for anyone who's ever read the book, sorry to spoil it for those who havent however Rambo dies after he is shot by Colonel Trautman, just before he does, he destroys the police station. Teasle also dies of wounds suffered in his gunfight with Rambo. I guess Hollywood in all their wisdom thought that ending would be too depressing according to what it says in the foreward by Mr. Morrell, however I thought it would have been an acceptable conclusion to the film.

How about

Rebel Without A Cause with James Dean

"What are you rebeling against?"..unknown character

That's from a Marlon Brando movie called The Wild One.

How about

Walking Tall?

or Judge Roy Bean?
I already spoke up on Walking Tall.

And Amazon Women On The Moon is my alltime favorite dumb movie. Ranks up there with Airplane and Kentucky Fried Movie.

You may be right. I thought it was from Rebel Without a Cause, but I could be wrong. It has been a long time since I saw either of those movies.

The Wild One was pretty good also.

I checked it today, it's from The Wild One...that's when he's the leader of the BRMC (The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) which is also a band now.

Rocky Six? Might as well call it, Rocky Sux.
