Instead of worst, let's go best.

Anvil: The Story of Anvil. Me being a metalhead, I had to get this one. A documentary about an obscure metal band, now in their 50s, still trying to find the fame they should have had all along, but passed them by. So well done, that, even if you're not even remotely interested in heavy metal, (or documentaries), you'll get sucked in by the truly human and emotion of the band mates, and you'll end up really wanting these guys to make it.

Passengers. Saw that the other night and really liked it. It's about a psychologist who counsels accident victims. This time she counsels survivors of a plane crash, but they begin to disappear one by one. Nice mystery.

I don't watch movies as much as I used to. The last movie I saw was Watchmen, and being a fan of the comic, I didn't care much for it.

So here's a list of some of my favorite movies in no particular order:

Seven Samurai
The Lord of the Rings trilogy
The Matrix trilogy
Original Star Wars trilogy
Original Aliens trilogy
Apocalypse Now
Akira
Ghost In The Shell
Speed Racer (yeah, I was probably 1 of 3 people who liked this movie)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Unforgiven
Pale Rider
300
TMNT (2007)
Saving Private Ryan
We Were Soldiers
Event Horizon
Pitch Black
Titan A.E.
Gone In 60 Seconds (2000)
Get Carter (2000)
Days of Thunder
Heavy Metal (1981)
Cars
Braveheart
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
A Knight's Tale

Well, I'm going to date myself ---

Dinner at Eight ---Wallace Beery, Jean Harlow, Marie Dressler, Lionel and John Barrymore

The Women -- Jane Russell, Joan Crawford

Donovan's Reef ---- John Wayne --- a total belly laugh

Desk Set --- Hepburn and Tracy

The Philadelphia Story --- Hepburn and Grant

Since you said recently, that narrows the scope considerably.

I did see 12 Angry Men last weekend. I've seen it several times over the years. A great movie from 1957 starring Henry Fonda, Ed Bagley Sr, Jack Klugman and several other really good actors. A classic and a really good drama. If you are hooked on action, look elsewhere. If you want a good drama with a good story & good acting and a socially relevant film that doesn't seem preachy at all, this is a great choice.

Anyone else like this movie?

My list are movies that I've seen recently --- when I can't find anything on the boob tube, I just pop in a DVD and let'er rip. :D

And one would think that with all the channels I get on satellite, I could find SOMETHING!

More than once TRL my wife or I have questioned 100+ channels, nothing to watch.

What's bad is when you have 200 channels, and On Demand, and a bunch of PPV channels.....and you still can't find anything to watch.

depends on what you want...

I rented G I Joe last weekend..great action... no plot.. but special effects will wow you. need to have surround on...

On of the better rentals lately is State of Play... Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck very intense who dunnit...

the taking of pelham 1 2 3 ... not so much... john travolta just was never made to say the F word... he should stay with dance movies...lol not worthy of doing the remake of a 70's classic.

Just finished watching Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood. Great movie and old Clint fit the part he played. Its funny how old men can find staring roles, even when they are in their 70s and 80s, but few women can find a staring role once they reach 50. BTW, if you have seen this movie, did you know that the girl who played the the lead female role was only 16 when the movie was made?
