Springtime in NASCAR is the best time of the year. From Atlanta to Bristol, Martinsville to Richmond and Talledega, followedup by the Winston, I mean Nextel or Sprint Allstar race, to the Most awesome Battle of the Fittest World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It doens't get any better than spring. After that, it gets pretty boring. Pocono, New Hampshire, Indy= BORING!!!

That I will have to agree with.:beerbang:

The appeal of NASCAR @ Indy has always baffled me. Don't get me wrong I'll be in front of the TV watching it like every other race. I will also watch the Indy 500. Maybe if I went there, I'd change my mind. I know the track has a long history & it seems to be a huge deal to many of the driver$, sorry, drivers.

The Brickyard itself is rich in history but the track is a bit tough to watch a race at. There are buildings and trees in the infield and you have a tough time seeing the cars unless they are in front of you. The tire mess last year really ruined our day...

From what I've been reading about the tire testing at Indy, it's still not going that well. I sure hope that it gets resolved. I feel for all of you that went to that race last year. Attending one of these events, at least for my family, is quite the investment in both time and money.

Indy sucks. Why the hell would anyone want to attend a race where you can't see crap with that big ass tower in middle.

Well, the only tracks close to me are Watkins Glen and Pocono. I love the experience of The Glen, but it's hard to keep track of where everyone is running even with the jumotron in front of you. At least this year I'll have a headset. For it being a road course though, I have to say it amazed me how fast they came around and were back in front of you. They sounded like a train coming down the front stretch so we knew to get ready with the camera, etc.

I've been working on getting to an oval and was hoping to get to Charlotte, but that's not going to work out now unless we go for crappy seats. Because of all I hear about Pocono, it hasn't even been on my "list" to go and see even if it's the next closest.

The Brickyard was pathetic last year, but I remember watching an Indiana guy win and it brought tears to my eyes because of the history and how much it means to drivers who grew up around there. I guess it's just the pure history of the place which makes it special. Hey, my parents took a ride around the track when my brother used to live out there. LOL ;)

I'd like to get to Pocono, at the least for the ARCA Series race. I, for one, like being in the paddock area more than being outside looking in.

What about Michigan, Mansfield, Loudon or Dover?

Mansfield? Sorry, I can't place that one by name. Haven't heard much better regarding Michigan and Louden, but I have looked at the Dover site. :) I'd just really like to go to the Charlotte area since there's so much to go and see like the team headquarters.

Yorkie, you hafta think about who mentioned it. Mansfield is a big "local" track that has great racing, but it isn't anything that the big time racing will be at any time soon. The biggest series that runs there is in my opinion the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour with the likes of Ted Christopher.

I was there to see that "Indiana" guy win twice and I also had tears in my eyes.

I have also taken my motorcycle around the Brickyard several times and I ran faster laps than any NASCAR driver has ever turned there. :sarcasm:

Michigan is a great track to watch a race at. I have been going there for more years that I want to admit. I was there three times last year just to watch one race. ;)

Definately check out Charlotte and take in the entire speedweeks. See the shops, watch all the races, take it all in. It is the One of the best NASCAR venues on the circuit. The energy and excitement will make you want to come back for years. I used to live in N.C., and frequented the races there. Well worth the trip for any out of towner, you won't experience nothing else like it.

How awesome! I'll never forget that day. I became a certified Smoke fan that day. The way he told it like it IS and then got fined for it.... all I can say is, he was right. I'm really a glutton for punishment some days being a Gordon AND Stewart fan. lol :D

Did you wear your special space suit when you did it? ROFL!!! :D

Was that because of the rain? I'm trying to figure out being there 3x for one race. LOL I thought that was 2 yrs ago, at least for the cup race. :)

Oh, thanks for clearing that up, Buck. Well, we HAVE one of those tracks 1/2 hour away. LOL :)

Yeah, I was REALLY hoping we were going to make it this year. When I first said I wanted to go, hubby said it was fine with him. Then he remembered his doc appointment for his foot and said I'd better hold off getting tickets in case he needed surgery. Well, he's just in an air cast, but lots of other things have gotten in the way of getting there. I still haven't quite accepted that we're not going to be there. ;) That's a trip we definitely have to make. Hopefully next year or maybe even the fall race depending on what's happening here. My daughter's sis-in-law lives in Mooresville and if they'd go along, we could probably even stay there. My oldest brother keeps talking about wanting to move down there, but more near the coast. We'll make it one of these days, sooner than later, hopefully! :)

indy is and always will be known for the indy 500 no matter how successful the 400 becomes with nascar. people in the midwest have a long tradition with the 500 and frankly i've never heard anyone mention going to the *400* while tons of people talk weeks about going to qualifying for the 500. nascar can talk all they want but there's no comparison by fans of the two.
