Who is the best "tell it like it is" person on TV covering NASCAR?

If I had to pick one, I'd pick none other than Kyle Petty. Ever since we switched to DirecTV, I've been watching more Speed TV since it's in HD. The few times I caught it before, I like the "Tradin' Paint" show. Kyle doesn't hold back on opinion of fellow drivers and team owners.

When discussing the Ganassi #40 situation at Chicago, Kyle said Reed Sorenson has already shown what he's got as a driver, that Ganassi should put Dario in the car to see what his ceiling is. I don't know if any other driver or team owner would get on TV and say that. He's made other similar comments about other drivers and teams. He doesn't hold back.

I'd certainly agree with Kyle being the kind of guy who sets the record straight.
The beauty part is, Petty does it in a way it would be hard for someone to be offended. Kyle is direct but also disarming in his opinions.

This is a far cry from what we have seen in the past when NASCAR worked overtime to control what announcers and reporters said and did.

Many announcers in the past and even today, an example being Benny Parsons, and no disrespect intended, as nice a person as he was, never could bring himself to make a negative opinion about anybody, anytime. In life, a fine quality but there are some times and some people who need to know where the buck stops. Where many can or will not do it, Kyle does.

I agree about Kyle Petty. I really enjoyed the commentary he provided at TNT this year. Instead of blatantly saying "Oh, he just flat wrecked him," he explained what other situations could've happened. KP doesn't show any bias towards any other driver either.

I haven't really seen what Jarrett's capable of, as ESPN's had Rusty Wallace in most of the season.

I'm actually going to miss the NASCAR on TNT coverage. Once again, fantastic coverage all season long.

Now, if Bill Weber would just go back to his rock.

Well I have to say that Michael Waltrip tells it like it is...as long as you want the Nascar party line. He carries their water like no one else. It doesn't matter the issue, problem, etc. he's going to agree with whatever they decide to do and try to make convincing arguments as to why they are right...

I've said for years that Wally Dallenbach doesn't hold anything back when he's talking NASCAR racing. I remember once when a driver was spun and Wally talked about who the spun driver will remember this and will probably find a suitable time later on to return the favor. We all know this happens, but most of the other guys will say that returning the favor is not an option and cooler heads will prevail.

The first thing Wally said after JPM said yes to turning into Busch on purpose-

"ALL RIGHT JUAN PABLO!!" :D

Kyle is very opinionated in a constructive way. Everything he has to say is to the point and non-judgemental. Very refreshing.

I also agree on KP. Say what he wants, when he wants, and how he wants.

id agree with above even though hes an open wheel reporter robin miller has no fear about telling it like it is about nascar lol.

No one tells his opinion like Robin Miller. But he doesn't count in this discussion since he covers open wheels.

On the full scope, i'll also agree on Robin Miller. Dave Despain could be a close third behind KP.

I'd go with Kyle Petty. I think he should spend more time on the air and less in his car since I think he could be very successful in the broadcast profession. Of course, if he wants to race and can, that's cool, but I enjoy him more on the air than on the track since he usually in the mix toward the middle to back.

I couldn't agree more about Mikey Waltrip. I get so angry listening to him that I end up yelling at him to put a sock in it. (I won't type what I actually say since I'm such a lady. ;) ROFL!)

I like KP too, but Robin Miller pulls no punches on Nascar or any other series, like them both. Duane

Sorry to "tell it like it is"

But the topic of this thread said "Best tell it like it is person on TV?" Not in NASCAR.

Ok i will shut up now.:D
