Best track for a noobie

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong part of the forum.
My parents are huge Nascar fans, so I would like to try and bring them to a race for their 60th birthdays as a surprise.
I'm sorry to say that I don't have a lot of knowledge from the sport so I need your help to know which track would be best to go to?

We need to fly in from Sweden so I'm thinking East coast.

Thank you,
Susanna

Welcome to the Forum Susanna, you are a good Daughter.:booya:

If you have to pick just one and want the overall experience, grandeur and excitement, then, I would say the entire week leading up to the "DAYTONA 500".
The Twins, the Truck Race, The Exfinity Race and the granddaddy of them all The DAYTONA 500 and stay at the beach while in town.
Also that week you can see some of the best in Super Late Model racing at New Smyrna Speedway the week of the 500. Also if into dirt racing you can go to Volusia Speedway to see some of the best Winged Sprint Car drivers in the world that week as well, these two tracks have there events at night. These last two tracks are within 30 minutes (normal traffic) of the Daytona Speedway.

Also, if your parents would like to take a ride at speed around the Daytona Speedway Petty has a day or two that week that they offer that, for a minimal fee, quite exhilarating and will give a whole new perspective of what the drivers see and feel inside the race cars, I have done it twice, all good.:D

Good luck on deciding.

What time of year would you be arriving, and how would you get around?

Daytona is an exciting track, but it's massive. If you sit near a turn, it can be difficult to see cars on the other end of the track.

Bristol is an amazing place to watch a race. Grandstands wrap around the entire track, and there is a lot of action since the cars are confined to a small space.

Be aware, many of the most exciting tracks are located in rural towns that may be difficult to access (Bristol, Martinsville, Darlington, etc.).

We also have tracks in large cities with big airports (Dallas-Ft. Worth, Charlotte, Las Vegas, Chicago, etc.), but tracks in big cities tend to have less excitement.

Oh, wow, thank you all for the help, but i think it made it harder to choose.

We would travel in May or August-November, depending on possibility to see a race. We will be in the US for up to two weeks, and have a rental vehicle.
I guess Daytona and Talladega is the two I've heard of so that would be fun. But it sounds better with a smaller track. Is it harder to get tickets for the smaller arena?

Rural towns also sound good, We are from a village with 4000p so a big track and city driving sounds a bit scary..

Bristol in mid August, Darlington in early September, or Martinsville in late October. Any of the three would be a great choice :D

I can tell you that Martinsville in October is a great choice. I have done that one several times and it is phenomenal

Are the races in the same track at the same weekend each year?

My sister and I are saving up for the trip, but it might be that we have to wait a year or two.

And usually how much is a ticket?

Race weekends usually stay the same year to year, but not always.

Most tracks (including smaller tracks) haven't had a full sell-out in years. Bristol has a massive wrap-around grandstand despite being so small.

Cost varies by track and by where you sit. Darlington & Martinsville have good seats between $50 and $100 each. Bristol seats range between $70 and $150 each.

Thanks, Bristol and Darlington sounds like what I'd go for then. Is Darlington also a smaller track?
Do the teams have 'home tracks' like icehockey teams? Or is it only where the driver's from?

Darlington is 1,366 miles which is smaller than most tracks but by far not as small as Bristol (0,533 miles).

No, theý haven't. Nearly every team is based in the Charlotte area, so Charlotte would be the home track for most teams.

Darlington is more of a medium-sized track, but it's more exciting than other medium-sized tracks due to high banking near the outside edges.

Bristol and Martinsville are short tracks. There's a third short track, Richmond, but the racing isn't as tight there.

NASCAR teams do not represent individual cities or tracks the way hockey teams do.

Hey, thanks again for the help!
We are going to set Bristol as our goal.

Just wondering about the home track, because i know my mom is a Dale Jr fan, and I've heard he might drive his last season now. We are not able to travel at this point, so i was thinking we might go to 'his team track'.

But then, never mind, Bristol it is!
