Biffle Says Goodbye To Roush

Sounds like Jack has not been keeping an eye on things for a while.

I read on Jayski that the main reason Biffle is leaving is because Roush doesn't have sponsorship for next year. He still had one year left on the contract.

I feel bad for Biffle. He has officially been Labonte'd.

Roush's days are numbered. I feel like a merger is necessary. Stenhouse is a talent but he can't carry this organization by himself now. Bayne is a ride buyer at this point.

Chris Buescher needs to take that 2nd JTG ride. Assuming it's even a thing. Get off the sinking ship. Hopefully Darrell Wallace can find something better as well.

Man that's a bummer. My two all time favorites (Bobby Labonte and Greg Biffle) got royally crapped on at the end of their careers and never got a good ride again.

5 years too late imo

I see Greg Biffle and Bobby Labonte as having very similar career arches. Both won a bunch in the lower divisions. Both got into Cup later than most. Both had about 6 years of great success. Only difference being Bobby's title in 2000. Then fell off a cliff.

The sad thing for both Labonte and Biffle was that they wasted their last few competitive years on sinking ships. Bobby at Petty Enterprises and Biffle at RFR. Could've gone to greener pastures and had a resurgence. But didn't.

Since JTG's second car came up - just know it is happening. Wood Bros and JTG shared a building up to this point, but the Woods just moved to a new shop closer to Penske. JTG took over the Woods' old spot to now occupy both halves of the building.

I like Biffle and if he wants to race and someone gives him a ride that is fine with me but I hate seeing longtime drivers go out as ghosts of their former selves. The way past champs like Richard Petty, DJ, DW, the Labonte's and Bill Elliott went out is sad to witness. Go out like Rusty and Jeff did.

They may have the shop space but do they have the sponsorship for another car?

Biffle has just proven that sometimes loyalty doesn't pay. Matt and Carl jumped ship before it sank and are thriving with JGR. Even if Biffle would have left for something not quite JGR caliber, he probably could have found something better than the situation he's in now.

So based on what we reasonably know about the charters so far:
Potential Sellers:
RFR - 16
RPM - 44
TBR - 7*
??

Potential Buyers
FRR - 79
Penske - 12
JTG - ??
Levine Family Racing - 59*
??

*TBR already sold charter to newly independent Levine Racing team.

Anyone else care to speculate on some potential moves?

Speaking of merger and speaking out of my behind... But I wonder if down the road they will piggy back on SHR much like furniture row does with JGR?

Minor quibble, but I think the FRR ride will be #77, not #79. We're talking about the Jones ride, right?

This is the longest operating multi-car team I've seen fall this far. This was once the only 5-car team, and at least three of them were threats to win weekly.

I respect Greg's loyalty, but I do wish he'd have jumped ship when Matt did. I admire what Roush was, but they have a steep hill to climb back up and I doubt they have the resources.

brutal quote from Biff "I just couldn't do this anymore," Biffle told the Times-Union. "I've been the one carrying the company banner. I've been the one who kept re-signing. I was all of those things. But it just didn't get any better. I didn't see a light at the end of the tunnel, so I decided I'd rather do something else - even if it means not driving anymore. I just didn't want to run 25th every week."

I remember listening to a radio interview with Biffle a couple years ago, apparently he was ready to bolt RFR at the end of the 2014, but stayed with Roush as he believed the 3M sponsorship was in place. Then shortly after re-signing, 3M jumped ship to HMS. Kind of a crappy situation.

Jayski says Biffle to second JTG car. This is an upgrade IMO.

No, what Jayski is currently posting is a Florida Times Union report that Roush will be loaning Chris Buescher to JTG Daugherty. If Biffle was a candidate for that ride, it would mean that Roush found a way to screw him again.

Presuming that quality options are slim on the Cup side, I kinda hope Biffle lands a good Xfinity ride and commits to that. He could excel there.

Several of Jack's drivers have been overly loyal to the point of hurting their careers...... probably more so than any other owner it seems... It is very commendable of them and shows character for what seems gratitude for Jack giving them a chance to drive in the top series.... I was always amazed at the loyalty and what held them there for so many years.... Mark stayed for almost 20 years.... but many of his years were building Roush into a formidable team..... When Biffle, then Kenseth and Edwards came on..... it was still a powerhouse with Kurt Busch as a team mate.... then it all started to get a little worse and worse until the writing was on the wall for everyone.... Biffle just happens to be the last man out......

After looking a second time, you're absolutely right. My bad.

I'd like to see Biffle just race the Trucks full time. I know he'd find a ride there and would be a contender week in and week out.
