Its a big story in the local paper, hope it isn't true. Anyone have a link or heard more about this?

To replace Stewart is the talk.

Here's what i think will happen:

Stewart will buy haas/CNC and convert them to toyota later this year, but remain at gibbs for this and next year. Biffle will go to the 33 car for RCR next year (2009), and at the end of next year, stewart will switch over to an owner/driver at haas (2010), and take home depot and the 20 with him. Lagano will hop in the former 20 from then on.

if Stewart buys hass/CNC they will stay a Chevy team...word is he wants to be back in a Chevy and Chevy wants him back.

We heard the PR announcement from Gibbs at the start of the season that there would be room for the considerable egos of Stewart, Hamlin, and Busch, but do you suppose the attention that Shrub's recent success have brought him will help make up Stewart's mind to leave?

My take. Stewart buys Hass CNC. He goes there in 2010, takes Home Depot with and fields Chrissy Wallace in the other car by 2012.

However, If Chrissy gets top 15 finishes in Trucks this year, she's going to remain a hot investment for Germain and Toyota. Now, if she miraciously pulled out a win this year or early next year, that would be bigger than Danicamania.

Andy, are you doing drugs? Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

That is what i said before the season started, that there were too many egos over at JGR. I thnk Stewart will buy Haas, he has the money that is for sure, and if he can secure a good sponsor and another talented young driver it just might work. Also Chevy would be the logical choice of make, i doubt very much that Tony likes driving for Toyota, i seem to remember him balking at the choice when there were rumblings that JGR was switching over.

Alot of times, these young drivers get put into lessor series's and run very well because they have the best of the best for equipment. When they get put into the upper ranks, where things are equal they don't perform that well immediately and are thrown to the side like yesterdays fish. More then one person has had there carreer ruined because they were thought to be the next Jeff Gordon and didn't pan out because they weren't givin enough time. I think Reed Sorinson is a prime example of this, he, however, has been givin time, but was moved up to quickly. Duane

I think it's more of a Chevy issue than an ego issue for Smoke. OK, yes, I LIKE HIM, so sue me!! LOL Besides, if Gibbs can't offer him part ownership like Hendrick did for Jeff, why shouldn't he go somewhere else? He has the money and experience and he'd get back in the Chevy camp. I say, more power to you Tony if you can pull things off! :beerbang::beerbang:

I have a name in mind, yet can't remember. The kid that filled in between elliott and kahne in the 9 car.

Casey Atwood comes to mind. He almost won a Busch race at Nashville as a relative unknown and people were putting him on a path to greatness.

What happaned to Buckshot Jones?

Per Wikipedia...
Buckshot has since sold his team and temporarily retired from racing. He last appeared in a NASCAR sanctioned race in 2004, when he ran two Busch Series events. He currently works in land development and real estate in Gwinnett County, GA. He returned to auto racing in the Snowball Derby in December 2006 but finished last after being caught in an early accident. He runs the #00 Chevrolet for DMT Motorsports in the Southern Division of the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series.

Wrecked again. :D

I think Biffle is gone from Roush. Where he lands in the million dollar (or so) questions. Candidates are JRG (if Stewart leaves) and RCR in the 4th car. I think once Edwards signed his deal, that sealed the deal for Biffle to look elsewhere.

I think he was brought up too quick and then released too quick.....Evernham wanted Mayfield in the 19 and as soon as it seemed that Atwood was turning things around he was fired.

If Biffle leaves Roush will he be able to fill the 5th car or will Nascar hold him to 4 like everyone else?

Biffle intends to re-sign with Roush: #16-Greg Biffle said on Thursday he remains 100% committed to re-signing with Roush Fenway Racing. Biffle's commitment to signing a new deal was questioned after he criticized his team following Saturday night's race at Darlington Raceway. He had the fastest car the first half of the race, but fell back because of a loose wheel and then was sidelined when the timing belt broke. "That had nothing to do with my contract," he said before the All-Star Pit Crew Challenge at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena. "I was mad my stuff was broke." Biffle said negotiations are continuing and he hopes to finish a deal by mid-summer. "That is my focus," he said. "My focus hasn't changed."(ESPN.com)(5-16-2008)

Keep in mind that Roush could send a driver to be a Yates driver since they are basically the same operation now. The question would be who would go to Yates? That would be the sticking point.

As far as Atwood, the kid had some talent. But he had a poor attitude. I think that's what got him canned.

If memory serves me correctly, one of the reasons Ray Evernham did not re-sign Casey was partly because Casey's father became meddlesome in contract negotiations. Among other things.
