There’s talk that Roush Racing and Robert Yates Racing might create a new team for Greg Biffle. The team would be Robert Yates’ third and would reduce to four the number of full-schedule Cup teams owned by Jack Roush.(Ford Racing)(10-14-2006)

I would like that move. But, you know Jack will find a way to keep the car on the track and keep the number of drivers.

I read an article on Nascar.com last week that said Roush was looking to Biffle to become the leader of Roush Racing.

I think that Martin is the "official" owner of the #17 team so he'll have to do something when Martin leaves.

I would suppose Martin could still show as the owner of the car and it race out of Jack's shop. That Martin may be racing somewhere else shouldn't affect the ownership status. Does it?

yea just like jack's wife owns the 99 or the 16 I forgot which one.

Mark said he has been bought out of the 17. He said on Wind Tunnel last week it was a very small percentage. Jack has full ownership.

I have dropped the ball on this. But when does the team limit take effect?

That's what I thought. Then if Roush signed Ragan to drive the #6, that still gives him 5 teams. Someone, somewhere has to leave the equation.

Or Rousch will "sell" the team to someone in his stable for $1.00....

Thanks for the info, Tabasco.

Looks like Roush may have something up his sleeve.

It seems as though the obvious solution is - as the OP stated - to send a team to Yates.

Roush always has something up his sleeve. That's why all of his cars were in the Chase last year.

I recall last year Mike Helton said that this rule was implemented specifically to head off the Cup monopoly that Jack Roush was obviously on his way to.
I think there were some Bowties squeeking in Helton's ear, as usual.

I just knew an Earnhardt had something to do with it!! Damn them!!!!

:) Uhhhn Fergy, hate to break this to you and other Earnhardt fans so I'll do it gently, but DEI and Earnhardt are not the only ones owning or driving a Chevrolet.:)

Just because one of them is the most popular driver and has been for the past two or three years while the other Earnhardt has seven (count'em, seven) championships, founded DEI and was posthumously elected most popular driver. Sterling accolades by themselves.

This popularity or notoriety does not make an Earnhardt the sole voice, neither does it mean each and every comment about Chevrolet, GM, or Budweiser is based, started or discussed is about an Earnhardt, or the organization containing the name.
We know Earnhardt fans think it is, but it jest ain't so.:D

The sun does not rise and or set on an Earnhardt. Sorry to break that tidbit of information to the fans who think Dale walked and now, Dale walks, on water.:)

I thought that's what all the Martin to Yates rumors were all about.

I haven't seen anything yet that states one way or the other what Roush's next move is going to be.

I just thought it was interesting that Biffle may go to Yates when Roush has made a statement about Biffle leading the team.

I suppose he doesn't want to show his hand to Nascar and thus not giving them time to rewrite the rule book - again.

Actually here's a picture of Lil'E as a boy on Lake Norman...
