Andy Petree Racing officials confirmed late Saturday BGN points leader Greg Biffle would continue to drive the #55 Chevy until the team's regular driver Bobby Hamilton returns. Hamilton suffered a broken right shoulder blade and cracked left wrist in Thursday night's Truck series race. He is expected to miss from three to six races, including Saturday night's race at Richmond. Biffle is expected to drive the #55 next Sunday at New Hampshire and the following weekend at Dover. He will continue until Hamilton returns or his rookie status becomes in jeopardy. Drivers are allowed to run up to seven Winston Cup races without losing rookie status the next season. Biffle currently has two Cup starts in 2002

Surprising considering Biffle spun twice in that car before wrecking it. He's a good driver, but he didn't really have a great night.

So I guess Roush isn't going to put Biffle in a car to prepare for next season? I guess this is going to be Biffle's practice for next season when he runs for Winston Cup ROTY honors.

Smart move by Roush and Ford execs to allow this. Jack would've been funding Biffle's effort out of his pocket otherwise.

I thought Biffle performed admirably for a team that is not usually in the top 15 and that he had no experience with prior to Friday.

I believe Roush will run Biffle in seven races, but he's getting these races from Petree for free.

What I said there in the last post was confusing. I meant that Jack would run Biff for the whatever races needed to equal seven for the year.

its great practice for him so he has the hang of it for nexy year

I think it's a smart move and hopefully Biffle can make the most of it. Hamilton might think twice before entering another truck race.

Very smart move allen, you're right.

Biffle seemed to be doing allright last night until his problems.

I for one think Greg did a great job in that 55 car, for someone who was just thrown into it on short notice. I think Greg is a great driver and if it weren't for him losing rookie status for next year, I wouldn't mind seeing him in that car for the rest of the season, IMO!

Believe I saw on the crawl during one of the NASCAR shows on Speed last night that Greg will remain "on call" for the next seven races. He won't start all of them as that would remove his rookie status for next season. He could however have Bobby start the race and then climb in to finish it and still maintain his rookie status.
