Renowned Joe Gibbs Racing To Provide Hall of Fame Racing with Cars and Team Support

Dallas, TX, Aug. 16th, 2005: Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today announced that its DLP™ Products organization will serve as the primary sponsor of the Hall of Fame Racing team starting with the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series season.

The sponsorship branding will focus on DLP HDTV. High-definition televisions based on TI DLP technology are now being manufactured by more than 15 consumer electronics companies. With DLP HDTV, NASCAR fans can experience the ultimate in high-definition racing. The Texas Instruments DLP HDTV car from Hall of Fame Racing will premiere at the Daytona 500 on Feb. 19, 2006.
Hall of Fame Racing was formed by three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Troy Aikman, Hall of Fame and two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Roger Staubach, and business man and veteran Trans Am driver Bill Saunders. Staubach and Aikman bring sports leadership and excellence to the team as world-class football superstars who both had illustrious NFL careers. The multi-year relationship between TI and Hall of Fame Racing includes an agreement with Joe Gibbs Racing, one of the most successful teams in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, to provide cars, engines, personnel, technology and various racing support services. Hall of Fame Racing is currently reviewing drivers and crew, which are expected to be announced within the next few months.

DLP HDTVs allow NASCAR fans to feel like they are in the action by offering vibrant colors, razor-sharp images, and excellent reproduction of the fast motion races. Multiple television manufacturers recently announced the availability of maximum-HD 1080p resolution DLP HDTVs, making DLP technology the first volume big-screen 1080p TV solution available. Leading Consumer Electronics companies manufacture and market DLP HDTVs, including LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, and TTE under its RCA brand.

This deal represents a new direction for TI in direct-to-consumer marketing of its technology. I think JGR is the key to this, I doubt they'd have gotten a big sponsor without that support.
It almost reads like it'll be a 4th team at JGR,
 
hmmmm there are a few big rides that are open, but most of the top notch drivers are taken...this is going to be an interesting silly season.

That is really big news. I can't help but feel that the teams are going to be stretched for experienced drivers. If the deal is for one team they undoubtedly will be closely connected to Gibbs.
 
well so far we have 2 new cars (that i can think of off the top of my head) for next year...the 10 and Hall of Fame cars.

what regular team or car do you guys see going to the way side.

i think the 15 is gone..but wouldnt be surprised to see the 32 gone if not after this year but sometime pretty soon if they dont turn things around pretty quick...i see Tide leaving.
 
Um, the 39 is just starting full-time next year so I do not think it will be axed to soon.

There had been some rumor about the 32 team goign to a two car operation but I think that is a stretch personally. They are definitely going to have to do something because you can be sure this was not what Tide wanted to sponser. I see the car staying but the driver or lack thereof will be replaced. Maybe if the 32, the 7, and the 37 all got together and formed a team then they'd survive but I guess that would not work since they run different car makes LMAO!!!

The 15 may go dormant for a year but it will be back in 2007 for sure IF it even goes away.

That's what I was saying. He said so far we have 2 new cars that he could think of so I said add the #39 to that list.
 
I hear Jerry Glanville is on the top of the list for the ride.

Isn't there already one example of a football guy not making it in auto racing?
It oughta go over like a cement duck.
 
Tim Brown is also starting a team, with help from Rousch Racing. As reported on Speed channel last night he hopes to have a car and team ready to run in the 500 in February.

What about Sterling Marlin? He's no longer going to be racing for Ganassi so why not him running the HoF car?

There's also an example of a football coach with great success. :) Which is the team it appears they are aligning themselves with.

I'll bet there were alot of Nay-sayers when Joe Gibbs decided to start a team too.

There's a big difference between a football coach and a football player.
Coaches are leaders, players are followers.
 
So, you are saying that a quarterback isn't a leader? I thought that they were the leaders of the offense on the field. But, I digress that that is a moot point. BOTH Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach are quite successful businessmen. If you could see all of the Staubach Realty signs in and around Dallas, you might concur. I will say that at least they didn't just jump feet first into Nascar without doing their due-diligence. Hall of Fame Racing was formed in 2003. They want to get it right the first time.

Don't get me wrong, I hope they do well. I just think it takes a lot to bring all the right people together to build a sucessful NASCAR team. I'm sure Gibbs will give them all of the support they need.
I think few people have Gibbs' ability to asess and adjust.
