The O'Reilly MLRA 2006 Thunder Tour rolls back into action this weekend with two big shows in Missouri as the chase for the championship continues.
Friday, June 9, the stars of the O'Reilly MLRA head to the lightning quick US 36 Raceway in Osborn, MO for their second ever visit. Alan Vaughn comes into the event looking to repeat his 2005 win and capture his first win of 2006. Looking to keep Vaughn from the repeat are a host of drivers including current point leader Al Purkey, the Oklahoma pair of Charlie Randolph and Mike Brown, David Turner, and a tough contingent of local drivers battling it out for the top spot in the 30 lap A feature. A Mods, B Mods, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, and 4 Cylinders will also be in action on the evening.
The next night, Saturday, June 10, the traveling heroes will head south to Wheatland, MO and the grand opening of the newly rebuilt Lucas Oil Speedway. The O'Reilly MLRA last visited the facility in 2004 when it was still known as Wheatland Raceway where Al Purkey picked up two wins and Alan Vaughn picked up one. Lucas Oil Speedway will look completely different to fans, drivers, and officials from their last visit as the rebuild of the track included changes to everything on the grounds with the exception of the racing surface. A Modifieds, B Mods, Factory Stocks, and Pure Stocks will also be competing during the night.
Friday night at US 36 Raceway the gates will roll open at 5:00 pm with racing action hitting the track at 8:00 pm. General admission is only $15.00 with those 10 & under Free. Pit passes for the night are $25.00. US 36 Raceway is located north of Kansas City on I-35 to exit 54 then 6 miles west on US 36 then turn north on SR 33. General admission tickets for Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway are $18.00. Senior and Teen (12-17) tickets are $12.00 with kids 11 & under Free. Pit passes are only $20.00 for the night. Gates open at 4:00 pm with Grand Opening activities planned for 6:45 pm and racing getting underway at 7:00 pm.
