1. Matt Kenseth (is this really a surprise? From last year, no..)
2. Dale Earnhardt Jr (finally living up to all the "Earnhardt Hype")
3. Jeff Gordon (shouldn't he be leading right now?)
4. Bobby Labonte (whatever he did during the offseason, well.. it worked)
5. Kurt Busch (figured he'd be up there fighting with Kenseth)
6. Michael Waltrip (by far the biggest surprise.. nobody expect Mikey to be in the top10)
7. Jimmie Johnson (obviously the slump missed him and hit Ryan Newman, but seems like Newman is over it now)
8. Rusty Wallace (No win yet...)
9. Kevin Harvick (Doing a helluva lot better than last year, hands down)
10. Sterling Marlin (slowly creeping up in the points)

What is the biggest surprise in your opinion?

Biggest Surprise: Michael Waltrip
Smallest Surprise: Jeff Gordon

Mikey yes is a surprise! I figured top 15 maybe sneak in a top 10 at the start of the season but he looks like he might stick soild in the top 10 this year. That is really good too see. He was all but out of that car last year but a late season charge kept him in the car and now he is proving why Dale put him in the car!

Biggest surprise would be Mikey.

A very close second is Robby Gordon being in the top 15

biggest surprise:Toni Stewart being out of the Top 10 in point standings for all but 1 week this year.
Also a nod to Bobby Labonte's #18 crew getting back to 2000 Championship form, have ripped off 5 straight Top 3's,should be a real contender for the Title this season, along with Matt Kenseth & Jeff Gordon IMO!I would add Dale Earnhardt Jr. to that list, but I believe the road courses & short tracks will be the downfall of the #8's Title hopes, but He will win the Most Popular Driver award,so not all bad for that team,JMO!

DJ is way back in 27th. Last year was the 1st year that the #88 team didn't finish in the top 5 in points & this year they may not make the top 10.

For the last 2 seasons, Jr has done great at the short tracks..
Only driver to finish in the top5 at both Bristol races last year, same for Martinsville..
Did good until he ran out of gas at Bristol this year, did good at Martinsville..

how back there ricky rudd is...
how much terry has improved
how far back ryan newman is (i thought he'd be in the top 5)
and that there is any awesome rookie battles contending in the top 10 in points
dont get me wrong i really like jamie but its not like the battle with jimmie and ryan last year

OK,i stand half-corrected then, don't follow Dale Jr's. stats that closely.
The road courses then will be His stumbling block IMO! :D

The fact that Dale Jarrett is 300 points out of 15th spot and basically has like no chance reaching the top 15 in points.

Michael Waltrip still hanging in there in contention for a top 5 spot in the standings.
