Earnhardt with his first 2 win season since 2004
Logano, 4 year struggle at Gibbs, 1st year with Penske he made the chase but barely, and this year has been his best year since he has been in cup.
The Verdict : Logano. While Earnhardt has returned to the Cup elite and looks like a legitimate title contender, Logano, still just 22, is carving a new path for himself and laying the foundation for big things down the road.

I agree with it, Logano is on a good team, Earnhardt has been on a good team for years. Logano I think is on the way up.

Logano is the bigger surprise for me. Been a long time fan of the Earnhardt's. Not surprised at all for him to have a successful season.

Jr for me. He's finally snapped out of his win-once-every-four-years funk, and for the first time since he came to HMS, he looks like a legitimate championship contender.

I always felt Logano had it in him, but he has come a long way in 1 season with Penske.

After so many years of being happy with finishing OK, Jr's 'win' attitude surprises me more. He's always had the talent to win 4 or 5 a year, but he coasted so long I wondered if he could get the hunger back.

if you look back at jr's seasons over the years in most years you could see how he could have easily had muliple wins that season. this season he is one full lap away from 4 wins. half lap at vegas and half a lap at darlington if he had taken the white flag first. similar things have happened over the years. I can acutally look to about 10 or more wins that slipped away for various reasons. logano I am suprised at how well he has done at penske.

Neither surprise me really, they're performing like they should, driving for arguably the best two teams in Cup.

for me Jr. Joey was supposed be, where he's running at. most agree Joey was pushed to fast, and now that he's found some comfort at Penske, he's starting to run like he was promised. but to me Jr is running the best in his career to me, he doesn't seem to be as reckless as he was. don't think he has a championship in him, but he has really surprised me this season, with how good he's running.

Neither, I expected both to win a couple races and make the chase

Logano. I liked the move to Penske when it was first announced, but I never expected him to improve so much in so little time. He's really coming into his own and is getting to the point where he is a legitimate threat more often than not.

Junior, on the other hand, has been running consistently well for the last several years, and as hidesert said, he's had plenty of opportunities to win races along the way.

Logano. Big question is , Who will be Junior's next crew chief , and will he be able to motivate like Latarte ? Without a strong leader , Junior may fall into that veteran driver trap of wanting to lead.

I've always felt bad for Juner as NASCAR and the media unjustly put this kid in the hottest spotlight known to man. After his daddy passed, things even grew hotter, I don't know how he made it through. We're just seeing that guy that was always there except today he's got a little bit more breathing room.

:D

Really for me its Jr... I always knew Joey would come around... As is well documented throughout this forum... Jr is doing better than I've ever seen and this is the first time I've ever considered him a title contender... Joey is only 24 and even if he falls off and isn't a contender for a couple more years he still has so much time to improve on what is already looking to be a great career.

Jr. for me as well. It was disappointing to watch him kind of fade away over the past few yrs especially after the way he started his career. I figured his best days are behind him - and they may still be but he is running dramatically better than I ever would have expected.

Even as a Jr fan I'd have to pick him, I'm surprised by how well he's done this season, he doesn't seem to give up like he use to(expect for Dega, which I can sorta understand considering the concussion he got their before, still wasn't happy about it) if he keeps up running like this once the chase starts he'll make it to the final 4.

Tied for most top 5's with Brad, Tied with most top 10's with Gordon that's a hell of a run if you ask me.

Well said!

Logano. If Jr. really gets serious and battles for the title, I might change my mind.
