Anyone else think those people who camp outside stores and then pretty much fight over crap really need to stop? Is it really worth all that just to save a few dollars?

I think it's stupid to sit out in the cold for hours waiting for a store to open, then take a chance on getting knocked down when the stampede starts and then if you find what you want, have to fight for it. If I needed to do all that to save a few dollars, well I shouldn't be going shopping.

I've always hated working retail on black friday. I get to do it again this year -- drive an hour to work just to work for 90 minutes.

The Target stores here are opening at midnight on Thanksgiving night to avoid the long lines of people camping out. :owquitit:Are Targets in other parts of the country doing that? All I know is that I won't be there, nor will I be out on Black Friday. It's safer at home.

I went Shopping on BF one with my sister...NEVER AGAIN
Yes, Target is open at Midnight here too.

Edit....Duh, you are in WI too.

I usually hunker down on Black Friday. I don't go out for ANY reason.

There is a guy and his wife here that's been camping out in front of Best Buy for 3 days already to get a $700 tv for $200.His camp is called OCCUPY BEST BUY.Some guy got caught last night peeing on the guys tent and had his buddy video it.It brings out all the crazies.

I love Black Friday! I get to sit in the comfort of my own home and get good deals on Amazon and then I get to watch all the idiots killing each other at the stores on youtube!

I'm going with GF and her parents...They go for the Kohl's snowglobes, plus whatever deals they can snag on cookware (he dad's a chef) or technology (tech guru's). Last year the 3 of them got 10 snowglobes by changing clothes in the parking lot. I know they're going after a 42" TV for the living room this year, to replace the year-old 37".

year old?.....*twitches*

Am I the only one who doesn't replace something until it's broken beyond repair?

You're not the only one. Wouldn't mind having an internet capable tv, but my 46" three year old set is just fine, and I dan sure wouldn' sit out in a parking lot for countless hours for a new one.

And doing that very thing for "snow globes?" Sorry mag, but that's the definition of lame. And changing clothes in the parking lot to get even more snow globes, that's above and beyond the top limits of lame.

Don't ask me...i'm not sure why they do it. But the 215 gal salt water aquarium is impressive...

Nope, I'm with you there. My 37" TV has some darker areas that seem to be growing. It's only about 2-3 years old too. It's kind of annoying, but my limited money can be spent in much better ways. What kind of boggles my mind is how much cheaper flat screen TV's are now. I paid $729 for the one I have at Best Buy about 2-3 years ago. Now, I see bigger ones for about half what I paid for that one, and I really shopped around to make sure I got the best deal I could at the time.

Technology sucks!!!! ;)

i bought a 46" panasonic flat screen for ~$1,300 6-7 years ago. i should be able to get a widescreen full wall tv by the time i replace it. at 1/4 the price!

I haven't been out on Black Friday in years but when I did go out ... it wasn't for the deals ... it was just to shop.

Our Target is opening at Midnight too.

There is a Burger King in town near the Mall that is opening at 4 for the early birds. But I think they open at 6am anyway ... so that didn't make sense, maybe they are hoping to make a few more dollars that morning.

Last year my son had to be in the store at 2:30 am in order to open at 3 am.
It's nutz, sure they have absurd prices on some items but they only have a limited amount of them in stock. The same people who show up @ 3 am for the "good deals" are the same ones who'll show up at the normal store hours to get the same deal.

It's all hype to get people in the store to buy the normally priced krap.

FWIW I haven't been in mall in well over ten years. All my Christmas, birthday, anniversary etc shopping is all done over the internet now.

same here. Newegg and Amazon are my friends.

Hey, if the wife hadn't bought a new one for my office, I'd still have my old (20+ year old) 25 inch console. The color is still good and is in perfect working order, but I couldn't get $25 dollars for it. Weighs a ton and is huge.
