...any thoughts on the new handhelds?

I still use a Torch 9810 as it serves my needs and I don't care for virtual keyboards so I appreciate the slide out of this one.

I have unlimited nationwide calling and 1g of data - which is more than I use on a phone - for $60.00/month so I'm reasonably happy with that :)

I also refuse to put a phone on a contract but that's just me, I suppose.

There are tons of phones with real qwerty key boards and I'm like you, I hate the virtual ones. Go to your cell phone site and look around. You should be able to find something with a real key board that has a decent sized screen.

I have an android device with full size, slide out keyboard and good size screen but wasn't satisfied with the weight (like having $10.00 in coins in your pocket) and bulkiness of it. I realized after buying it a couple of years ago that I don't use it for web browsing as much as I thought I would so settled on the BB.
I also live in a rural area and most times couldn't even take/make a call from inside my house. The Torch gives me 4 or 5 bars all the time and although iphone will do the same, I'm just not a fan.

I appreciate the advice, however :)

Dunno how much you text but I have a virtual keyboard on my HTC One X+ and aren't keen on typing with it to text but Swype texting comes built in to the phone too, ..and in my opinion its the only way to text...awesome, and it requires a virtual keyboard.
