Blaney re-ups at BDR: on ESPN2's NASCAR Now, Marty Smith said Bill Davis Racing has picked up an option to keep Dave Blaney, driver of the #22 Caterpillar Toyota to drive the car in 2008 and there are provisions to keep Blaney longer. Caterpillar had already re-upped with the team.

Maybe i'm a hardazz but I think as a car owner it would be really hard for me to continue a relationship with a driver who had yet to prove himself. No disrepect to Dave Blaney but I would be looking for someone else, thats why these guys have Busch & Craftsman Truck teams for upcomming driver development. Thats why I also agree to Cup guys racing in the Busch series. I mean I know that they win the majority of the races but if it were me running the full Busch campaign & I won a race or two that a bunch of Cup guys were in (rare occurrence I know) I would be sooo pumped up.

Good for Dave. No one else could do any better with that equipment.

Oh yeah, they run a hand full of races and jump into the cup series...some development. The good ole days yes, Now the Busch series is a joke. 153 different drivers this year.

IMO, you lose a lot when you start changing drivers every year or even every other year. The chemistry is gone. The new guy is constantly looking over his shoulder to see who his replacement is going to be. You need to be working on getting the driver and crew cheif and the rest of the team on the same page. And, then concentrate on putting good cars on the track. The difference between a Go or Go Home car is very miniscule. The difference between 1st and 20th on race day is even less, 1/10th of a second.
That's not to say that there maybe aren't some guys who shouldn't be out their but I don't know that Blaney is one of them.
