Todd Bodine and Christian Fittipaldi both crashed during testing Wednesday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but neither driver was injured.

Bodine, driving the no. 54 Ford, hit the wall in turn 1 after losing a ,right front tire. He praised the energy-absorbing SAFETY barrier installed in the turns at Indy for easing the impact.

"What are we waiting for? Put them in," Bodine said of the steel and foam barrier system that is now in placeonly at Indy. Plans are to have versions of the "soft walls" up at Richmond and New Hampshire in time for races at those tracks in September.

"That hit should have hurt. We don't have a Gmeter in the car or anything, but we can tell what the slow down rate was and I'm telling you it was a hard hit and look at me. I don't even have a sore spot."

I don't see why these SAFER walls are not installed at every race venue. ;)

i'm glad their both OK
1 ? i thought PE fired John because of preformance issues ???
Thats what I thought also

Also INDY practice related was the fact that Dale Jarrett had originally planned to practice there this week....apparently the car was so bad after Chicago that the team skipped the test session to go and re-group.Whatever that means.
