No real obvious winners this week aside from some racing incidents that happen in any race. My bonehead this week goes to Joey Logano and team. Even though they were not a contender to win, they did themselves no favors in points with late race pit penalties. Logano gets a speeding penalty on the last stop, he is supposed to serve a drive thru penalty. His brain dead crew chief decides to add fuel to the car on the drive thru, something every crew chief knows they cannot do. That gets another drive thru penalty losing 2 laps. Not good when your team needs to get into the playoffs on points.

I don't think points matter for Joey. Only a win matters for that team.
But that doesn't excuse stupid rule violations. I think the team is down because they are counting on Joey pulling it off and are not giving 100% to the car.

I wasn't offering that as any sort of excuse for anything. Simply commenting on the last sentence of the post above mine. Right now only a win matters for JL..... Nothing more.

It amazes me these teams make mistakes like this but can build a car to very specified detail capable or speeds they run, capable of protecting a human in a 50+ G crash, with systems that monitor everything, and able to manage a race. But don't remember simple rules that have been in place for years.

Yea taking a pit guy off of his own 19 sure is hamstringing lol
And where has the 19 been running? Mid to back packer mostly. And that's only one of the two.

If they were simple rules but they aren't. Sometimes you can fuel the car, sometimes you can't, sometimes it is a pass thru, and recently they have about a hundred violations for a pit stop with camera monkeys watching your every move, speeding penalties if you so much as sneeze. They had 4 drivers speeding on one pit stop yesterday. Sometimes I have to think Nascar is at fault instead of the drivers when it comes to the rule book.

really doesn't matter where the tire changers came from. The results were that Truex who had the fastest pit crew in the series transitioned to his pit crew losing multiple spots in the pits. They lost two spots on the last pit stop, had to pass Harvick who had passed them in the pits and then got hung up in traffic and Harvick got by them again. With what went down, the week before, one wonders if Truex's had team orders for this race anyway. It was going on last week when it back fired. After Gibbs gutted the team, surprise KDB wins the race. Gibbs saying nobody saw the whole thing? He leaves a slime trail where ever he goes.

They lost on pit sequence and speed. PERIOD

Hasn't figured out yet that fast pit stops = speed

Bush came out 9 seconds behind the leader and by the time the checkers flew he had gapped second by 6 seconds. During that tare he passed Truex and the guy Truex couldnt pass, actually all the fast cars were up front and got passed by him. Now tell me how the 78 pit crew lost them the race? Anyone who cant acknowlege this statement doesn't understand the rules of argument.

Truex with his original pit crew would have had a good chance of being in front of both Hamlin and Harvick who passed him in the pits the last pit stop. Can't say for sure who would have won, you can obviously. But the shoe wasn't on the other foot Gibbs made sure of that.

In response to your post I would like to refer you to my previous 3 statements, ad infinitum. Thank you for your time and patients in this matter.

I think it's Logano/Gordon/22 crew for that speeding penalty followed by taking fuel on the pass through sequence

Kenseth spinning before the first lap was done and causing the mangling and crashing of some good cars. As luck would have it, driving off undamaged and being able to finish in the top 10. :p

I'll nominate Roger Penske for being dumber than a rock. I mean, really Roger, what are you thinking? Signing Keselowski to a new long term deal. Committing new capital and other resources into expanding to three team cars. Signing Blaney to a multi-year contract extension. And all that after doing Logano's long term deal. Don't you know Nascar is on its deathbed?

I used to think Roger Penske had legitimate business acumen. It turns out he is dumber than the R-F doomsayers who know the sky is falling. :sarcasm:
