Some pretty good racing in the trucks and NNS at Iowa. My bonehead for this week goes to Jimmie Johnson for dumping Kurt Busch. These two have had other incidents, will be interesting to see if the 2 "accidentally" gets into the 48.

Whoever built that inside wall at Pocono like that is my pick.

This is about 100-200 feet up-fence from where Kurt hit it, I think. This is when they back-filled the dirt behind the fence, which is why Elliott had so much rebound coming off the wall.

I'll go with Pocono for not making the inside walls safer. Someone even brought up where Sadler hit was about the same place Petty hit in the 70's Typical for businesses today that its going to take someone getting killed before something is seriously done about it. And why did they back fill it with dirt? I could be wrong but after time when the dirt compacts won't that make it like hitting a concrete wall, like we witnessed today? As the video of Park above showed, the wall there at least gave away. That could have been much worse.

I think their (unmethodical) thought process, was that Steve could have gone through the fence, into the infield. So they back-filled it to keep that from happening. And exactly like you said, the result is what we saw today.

Hitting K rail like Steve did, is soft (give or take the sharp G-point loads when the wood holding it snaps). Hitting K rail with packed dirt behind it, like Elliott did, is pretty hard. Hitting bare concrete, is hard as chit. Hitting soft wall, like Jeff did, Is still hard, but not AS hard.

I will go with Pocono as well. Should have put safer barrier in years ago in that section of the track.

FYI, it was great to hear benny parsons voice in the video above.

Jimmie Johnson a four time champion should know how to "bump draft"

I'll go with Johnson.
I look forward to major improvments at this track by next years first event.
Johnson has forgot how to run in the pack.

I'm going with ESPN for showing awful ****ing tennis which caused me to miss the nationwide countdown show and first 25 laps of the race or so because I was out and dvr'ed the race. **** espn.

Jimmy J 2 times...For Hitting Kurt, and then for saying "I think I caused that"

What the he!! else caused it you idiot????

Jeff Freen totalled out a car in just about the same spot the year after Rusty took JR and Park out. I think green was in the Pennzoil car.... or maybe one of Childress' cars.
Pocono is definately dragging their feet on safety.
Boring, and dangerous, what a combo......

The person responsible for track safety saved Double J from my vote this week. WOW, what a hit! Thankfully he survived to race another day. Fortunately, the safety improvements in place yesterday did their job.

I think that was Steve Park.

Brian Pattie for blowing another late race strategy call.

Andy,
You peaked my curiosity, so I did some digging, and it was Jeff Green in the pennzoil car, 2003. At this point, Park had brain damage from Darlington,so he was out.
Ironically enough it was Terry Labonte that was "bump drafting" Green, similar to the JJ/Busch episode, with the same results.

Yes, that was in 2003 involving Jeff Green.

However, the crash you mentioned earlier was a totally different race and crash:

This was in 2002 involving STEVE PARK, Rusty Wallace and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

I love YouTube.:)

The crash I was referencing was the Green crash the year after Park and Earnhardt. I stated it was the year after.
Not sure what point you are trying to make.

Sorry, my bad. :)

I'm just feeling argumentative today:) (any conversation with a certain NASCAR blogger will do that to you).
