Bonehead of the Week: Richmond I

Digger

Guest
Early nominees, FOX for having the first hour+ of the race on SPEED.

David Stremee the one man wrecking crew.

Jimmie Johnson - 1 wreck and 2 black flags and we're only halfway.

NASCAR being Pre- empted by Baseball, what in the wide wide world of sports is going on here. FOX is slowly getting on my nerves, first digger, then this. What next, are they going to fire Mike Joy and hire Dally Wallenbach?

I'll take Digger and Wally over baseball, BozoMac and Jaws Waltrip.

Bring back Buddy Baker. I Liked DW as a driver and early on as a commentator, but he has to go. I like Dale Jarrett, FOX if you are listening.

Just a note -- it is written into the baseball TV contract that all games MUST be carried until conclusion.

True. And just imagine you were a baseball fan, and they cut away during a 10th inning tie. Most race fans complain if the network cuts away before the winner interview. Just think if they cut away with three cars going side by side with 2 laps to go.

:fixed: and it happens all the time, mostly on ESPN.

For me, it's a toss up between Brian Vickers, The Penske Trio and Hamlin's crew.

David Stremme for turning the 99 and stuffing the 17 into the wall. I think he was the one that caused the stack up in turn 1 that got Mark Martin turned.

Yeah Stremme was everywhere but up in the stands. <groan> OK bad joke. ;)

Stremme is cetainly a good choice. One of the major advantages we have in the West Coast is that we do not have to worry about Baseball interfering with the race. Our games start at 12:30 Pacific Time, and the race did not start until hours later.

Not to start another Junior war, but I was at my local watering hole, watching the race and the Hockey game at the same time. Someone told me that Junior was all upset with his pit crew again, amongst other things. Is there any truth to this?

when is junior ever happy?

When he's not racing. The guy is already a multimillionaire for being an average driver. He should just quit and open a bar with some silly name. Oh yea, he's already done the bar thing so he should just quit.

They should put Digger in his car.

Well that's funny, my Channel 11 which is the FOX affilliate was showing the NYM and Phillies game so I still had to kill my TiVo and go to SPEED for an hour. What FOX station do you watch in So. Cal? Do you REALLY even live in So. Cal?

So, should all average drivers quit or just Jr, and, if just jr why.

Who ever is responsible for the leaking brake line of the 48, hopefully it's a parts failure.

The lap car that cause Reut to hit the wall going from a top 10-15 to 28th and now he's out of the top 12.

I nominate NASCAR. Why start a race under yellow??? Why could they not use the cars to dry the track, then let everyone pit for fuel only to start the race the way it would normally be started, then a couple pace laps, and drop the rag. I've always hated this rule. Got so pissed I didn't even watch the race, but did flip back just in time to hear the race bites.....was it Jr that said "You ran me out of gas"? If so, typical Eury math.

I gotta go with Vickers, my boy(copyright Michael Wilbon). Seriously, he missed his pit stall, fell a lap behind for a large portion of the race, got in the way of several cars on the lead lap, etc. I will say, though, he did make a late charge. Too little, too late. One of the few times his pit crew didn't screw the pooch though, so I guess thats a plus.

Jr's heart isn't in it. He doesn't practice like he should(he said so hiimself) He knows he'll never live up to his Dad's name. He knows his fans expect WAYYYY too much from him. He's been put on a pedastal by his namesake and his short stint with Pops (Tony Eury Senior for those who don't know). Do the research, 3 wins since the end of 2004, the year he stepped away from teh 8 car to be a team manager at DEI. Unless there is a shake up and TEJ is removed, he'll never be much more than a Kyle Petty.

I think Jr. is better than you give him credit for. I do think the whole saga with DEI took alot out of him though.

I tend to agree with this, I think Jr needs a fire lit under his butt, needs some one to instill the passion and focus he needs to be championship material. Yes I do think he still capable of winning a championship, I've always thought that. He won't live up to Dad, I don't think anyone could, even Kyle Busch.
