Didn't matter when the engine let go.McDowell
His crew might not have messed up the second time if not for the added pressure from his first penalty costing them a good chance to win.
Also didn't matter at the end.Honorable mention to Chase. Not for running out of gas but for doing it while his teammate had a damn 6 second lead.
Is that what happened? I fell asleep toward the end and was like where'd he go? I saw both pit road penalties.Didn't matter when the engine let go.
That’s why it’s an honorable mention instead of #1. It’s quite possible had McDowell not gotten behind from the penalty he wouldn’t have been pushing as hard and had his engine trouble, so I still choose him. Also didn't matter at the end.
You are correct. The engineers at the track and a squadron of them sitting at workstations at the shop all apparently missed this one.I know everyone wants to blame Alan but correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't every team have an engineer that provides the fuel mileage to the CC? He said "got the wrong info" to Chase so I'm assuming so.
this is a hard one to understand, because most of the team have war rooms back at the shop working during the race just for this stuff. You are correct. The engineers at the track and a squadron of them sitting at workstations at the shop all apparently missed this one.
Gustafson needs advisory people who can do elementary mathematics in their heads because he obviously can’t.
Louder for those in the back. Add Chase in for borking qualifying.Alan ****** Gustafson
I genuinely LOLed here. Thanks!HMS, for using Common Core math to figure fuel mileage.
Getting pretty old listening to the 9 blame game. The only crew chief around I know of who can figure out fuel mileage is Larry Mac because they had to know how to do it back in the day before "flip the switch" and "war rooms" were a thing. You are correct. Larson's been throwing a lot more tantrums as of late.Larson and Gustovson

Elbows and hip checks. I'm guessing he watched an IMSA race, heard Leigh Diffey say 'Argy bargy' a few times, and decided to see what that's about.Larson's been throwing a lot more tantrums as of late.
He and Gustafson.
I have to give it to McDowell. That's not a new rule is it? Seems it's been in place forever. Heck he blew through 5 pit stalls. I guess ultimately really didn't cost him anything with the electrical issue or whatever he had. But that's just crazy running for another win and BLOWS that procedure.
Spotters help with that. For some reason I think you can travel through 3 stalls on way to yours? And that seems pretty tough when you think about it. I'd need a marker on the pit stall lines so I'd know where I could move left through open stalls. Pitting is definitely harder than we give them credit for, like so many other things.
How about Ty for pissing off the one guy he knows hates him and didn't care to wreck him when he knew he would probably be behind him.Sam Mayer
Is there anyone who didn't see that coming? Even the Gerbils were clued in.How about Ty for pissing off the one guy he knows hates him and didn't care to wreck him when he knew he would probably be behind him.

Definitely wheel hop. It was similar to Ty's didn't mean too run him off the track...totally accidental. But he said it was all about the wheel hop. . I think a job well done myself.

I think you are correct. But I think the reule carries over to empty stalls so it is black/white.Here's my assumption, and I know what they say about assumptions. This rule was created as a safety measure and to keep things fair when cars are going in and out of their pit boxes and you have a flurry of activity on pit rows between all the teams servicing their cars. The rule protected OTW crew that are already servicing the cars that are in their box, and it prevented cars from crashing into each other as they try to get in and out of their boxes.
With that assumption in mind, you would think NASCAR would give a little leeway for a box that wasn't being used by anyone, but I guess not.
