Brad penalized again

As expected. Of course, this in no way will illegitimize the previous success of the 2 team or the Penske organization...we all know the only team that cheats in NASCAR is Hendrick Motorsports, and that Chad Knaus is the only crew chief in the garage who would bend the rules to gain an advantage.

Damn penalty number two...could Wolfe be taking lessons from Knaus?

Ouch! this has to really sting the Kez and Ford guys just a little bit.

'S okay; he's used to it.

Seriously, does probation mean anything? Wolfe was already on probation, but it had no impact on the penalties for this second violation. Will Dean Wormer give his name to the draft board?

Ouch. I can't imagine that this was intentional. Already on probation, they knew they were going to be scrutinized.

I'm happy with Nascar enforcing it's rules and using their discretion when determining the severity of the penalties . I really don't know or need to know what took place here . Nascar picked up on something very minor and gave them a slap on the wrist . Great.

And Nascar thanks you. Maybe they wont even bother to announce infractions or penalties if we can all can on board

Do we really need to know all the gory details? And does it really matter if they caught something that was a minor infraction but didn't effect performance ? I mean , I love that dpk posts the tire compounds for each race , but I don't read them , nor do I have any idea what they mean.

I don't know about 'gory' but the details of which part caused the infraction and how/why it failed should be made public.

It is curious how something that doesn't effect performance can cost an innocent person $25,000.00

As for tires, the only part of it all which I understand is that they all use the same compound.

I simply post them to show the number of tires allotted per race which comes into play from time to time as well as the comparison to the last event at the track. They show you in that post if they are using a new compound that came from testing or the same ol, same ol. Maybe not too important but then again it may be if you know who was present during that tire test that came up with the new tire compound. At Dover, Tony Stewart was one of a few teams that tested. Probably means nothing but it's still something to talk about.

Back to the topic at hand..... If a teams car is not to spec and within the tolerances set then the team should be penalized. The bad part IMO is when they try to regulate intent. That being normally done by the appeals board. I don't think that can be regulated because it's speculation. Just like the white line rule @ restrictor plate tracks.

Would it be possible to put the tire compound info in some remote corner of the forum so rubber freaks have a place to play? Then us more serious race fans can get back to talking about more important things, like Danica's improving track performance and growing pile of bent sheet metal?:)

That probably should be the case if I start talking about how that certain tire compound doesn't belong at the track or is taking up the room of other potential tire compounds that could be used instead. Yes, then I'd agree with you. ;)

That one is straight from the Tony Stewart book of parsing rules and splitting hairs, subtitled "Why it doesn't apply to me".:p

If a part breaks on the car during the race and it causes the car to be to low during post race inspection ...is that still a penalty?

I was thinking the same thing. On probation, busted again. Is it time for double-secret probation?

There are fines for going 31 mph (in a 30mph zone) and fines for going 50mph and 80 mph in the same zone. If Nascar fines $25,000. and 6 points , I think that it was a pretty minor infraction , but still an infraction. Sorry I brought up the tire compounds .

really grey area here IMO. Mark Martin got rear ended at a race, I can't remember which one, but the car was about six inches shorter after the wreck/fix. The spoiler was way higher, he didn't have any sheetmetal on the rear so the air under the car could get out, and he was fast because of it. He unlapped himself and won the race. No penalty for that, at least I didn't hear he was penalized anyway. On the other hand, if your car isn't damaged..grey area here..it has to be the right height front and rear. Could have been as much as a tap on the fender to tweak whatever piece, shock, one of the packers could have fallen out, who knows. I know the shocks they use are really complicated. I remember way back in the drag racing days, you could get a 90-10 shock. Ten pounds resistance upward, and 90 pounds resistance the other way to keep the front end up longer for weight traction.(think old gassers) Their stuff is the opposite, but somehow when the quit racing the car is supposed to go back up to legal height. I don't get it..all of them try to get the splitter on the ground, and they do. Why do they have to spring back up before and after the race. Just use the front end template to make sure the sheet metal shape is right, to hell with the height deal.

OMG, STOP WITH THE TIRE COMPOUNDS ALREADY! Don't we have anything better to talk about? he he

I do remember last year after Brad won his championship, somebody on Speed channel (Kyle Petty? Kenny Wallace?) said that Brad and Wolfe were the new Jimmy and Chad. Certainly seems like Wolfe likes to bend the rules, though like nitro said, Chad never got caught (often).

The Fords as a group are the slowest of the bunch. Until they find some speed, they won't be hailed as the new Jimmy and Chad this year. According to Richard Petty, the whole Ford group are having meetings trying to figure out where to find more speed.

The 99 bunch has been good but other than them, the Blue Oval boys seem to be out in left field in regards to speed. But at least their motors are durable ;)

Durability will be an issue this weekend . Fennig is always a threat.

Yes, but the laws of the road are 100% clear. Can we say the same about Nascar's laws?

If they did fix the problems they may be back of the packers all day.
