At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2007, Taylor was shot in the groin by an armed intruder at his Palmetto Bay home, critically wounding him by severing his femoral artery. His girlfriend tried to call police from the house line, only to discover the line had been cut, and proceeded to call 911 from her cell phone, which delayed response time.

Taylor was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery. He emerged from surgery about 12:30 p.m., however, he had lost a significant amount of blood and remained unconscious and in a coma. His doctors have speculated that he may have suffered brain damage due to the blood loss. NFL Network reporter Adam Schefter reported that Taylor flatlined twice during the emergency surgery. Early on the morning of Tuesday November 27 2007 Sean Taylor passed away at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the age of 24.

Yeah, I just heard that. Terrible. Prayers go out to the family.

It's times like this when I'm glad we've got someone with the tenure and the experience as Joe Gibbs. Ain't nobody better at lifting team players' spirits and hopes. They're the Redskins, they'll be alright, and they'll crush Buffalo. "The Beast" is watching over them from a higher, mightier place now.

RIP Sean Taylor #21.

I can't hardly believe it. He was a very solid player, and only at the age of 24! My prayers go out to his family and friends.

It sickens me that so many people are focusing on his character, or lack thereof, at a time like this. He was not even close to a perfect citizen, and noone claims he was.

Should he have done jail time for chasing down the guy he thought stole his ATV's and threatening him with a gun? Probably

Would you or I probably have done some jail time for doing the same thing he did but without his money and legal representation he could afford? Probably

But as far as we know he never killed anyone and therefore did not deserve to die.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and teammates.

Czarniak said Taylor never raised a gun at anybody nor owned a gun during the incident. I'll take her word over some punk ass ghetto gangbanger (who's only in it to get $$) any day.

He pleaded guilty to assault and another misdemeanor. Who gives an eff.

I'm sure a reporter has more information than the police who charged him, the prosecutors who prosecuted, and his attorney who got the plea agreement. He's been in more trouble with the law than any other active player than I can think off. And spitting in the face of Michael Pittman on the field last year showed what kind of player he was....

If you believe the story of a burglary gone bad, I have a bridge over the Potomac I'll sell you for a really cheap price. Someone broke in house house a littl emore than a week ago and left a knife on his bed. Someone was after him or wanted to send him a message by getting someone in his family.

It sucks that he died and I feel for his daughter. But he was no saint.

I've been wondering how to answer this...but you said what I wanted to and said it well.

Yet he also managed to turn himself around.

Lindsay is the best sports reporter on the east coast, hands down. Nobody gets closer to the story than her.

But all he got was a fine (chump cange) and probation. Obviously the prosecuter felt he didn't have that strong a case or he wouldn't have offered such a light plea deal.
