Oh my heavens. Lexington Park, Solomon's Island, King George is reporting several fires, and now Accokeek reporting fires. Winds are blowing from 30-50mph.

All of the Charles County EMS has gone to King George and Waldorf VFD (largest fire department in the state) is on code red alert.

Oh my heavens, 4,000 people without power in St. Charles, according to SMECO.

Andy, do you have a TV station link?

Nope. None of their websites are reporting on it because there's a number of power outages in D.C. as well. FOX5 mentioned the fires here but the majority of the coverage is on D.C.

Southern Maryland doesn't have a local television station, I'm listening on the scanner.

Prayers and thoughts for all involved. The wind is bad here tonight. We had a brush fire today about 30 min from here. They're watching it close hoping it won't recatch.

We had winds up to 50 mph today. Will find out if any damage tonight on the news. It blew a vent register out of the side of our brick house. It also blew all the seed out of 2 of our birdfeeders.

We've had 30-50 MPH winds all day long, and have been under fire danger since yesterday and remain so overnight. Branches are all over the yard.

Muggle, it blew a bunch of shingles off my roof. Almost lost the grill from the deck.
Yeah, the winds gusted pretty strong. They are building a new house across the street from us and have a "portable potty" next to the street for the workers. The wind blew it over onto its side.

:D

hope nobody was in it ;)

We still have a 3 ft by 3 ft chunk of shingles missing from our upstairs roof. At work, our mat outside the door (3.5 ft by 5 foot) has been blown away a couple of times.

Waldorf Accident

The wind blew a car up and over off the road and into some woods. There were a number of ambulances on the scene, and things did not look good.

The number of power outages remains high and some school districts have even closed school for the day because of the severe cold snap outside.

It's cold. Sucks for those people without power this morning. :(

I feel lilke I am going to die right now. :(

Well, that was one nasty day for a lot of the country. There was a 36 car pile-up on the highway near the airport and so far a 17-yr-old girl was killed. Several others were in guarded. They took a large number to 3 different hospitals, most were released. Since then, we've gone from blowing snow, to ice, to blowing snow which turned into freezing rain. What a mess. Everyone stay safe out there!
