this is the "new football league". you must be thinking of the old "national football league". <g>

congrats to drew. :)

That was pretty great to watch. I really wanted to see him do it at home in front of their fans.

Appears a "sports writer" has found fault in the way he got the record.

Yeah, I saw that headline and decided it wasn't worth reading. I have a hard time with questioning "running up the score" in the pros. This isn't like Alabama beating up on SW Washington County or something. It is the Falcons' job to stop the Saints from gaining yards and scoring. If they can't do it, they should get some better players and maybe some better coaching.

I knew somebody would have a problem with him being in the game and still throwing at that point in the game. They really wanted to do it in front of their home fans.

this is done all of the time when records are close to being broken. pick any sport and you'll find the same thing occurs. jason cole is paid to write articles. controversy sells so try to create it where none exists.

I think it's great that he got it and he got it at home in front of the fans that have always supported the Saints, no matter how they played.
As for running up the score, I thought the Falcons also had chances to score. Maybe instead of blaming the Saints, they should blame the players that played and couldn't stop the Saints from scoring. Also blame the players that played and missed chances to score.

Records are there to be broken. Drew Brees did what he had to do to break 27 year old record. Perhaps the "sports writer" should focus on breaking records of his own or making a name for himself rather than bagging on the acheivements of others.
