GREAT AMERICAN RACE FAN

Guest
I used to be a avid... well I mean rabid drinker. My travels across this country helped introduce me to more choices in Beers that the old stand by's Busch and Pabst BluE Ribbon. I quit drinking for a good long while, but lately have gotten to like to have a cold one every now and again.

Well todays choice is a 6'er of Yuengling Lager. In a discussion at work, we were talking about the few choices for All American independent Beer choices. While there are a few, Yuengling was one that was brought to my attention. So, on the way home, I stopped at the local Super to get some marinating ingredients, Dale's Sauce and a bottle of Cocola. In addition, some Yuengling Lager. Man is it a fine drinking beer, with a light crisp Amber flavor, I cannot wait to introduce this Lager into the tailend of a chicken. Yes, I think this is a great selection for my favorite grilled chicken, the "Drunk Chicken". I think if you like a good cold beer, try the suds from Pottsville, PA.

Ah, beer...my favorit vegatable. I prefer a good ale to lager, but Yuengling is a great beer. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale has to be among my favorite beers though.

What beer comes outta Pottsville?

Yuengling. Yes, Sierra Nevada Pale I discovered in Montana, That was one of my favs.

I have many favs but unfortunately, they are all getting to be expensive. Still, I won't wet my lips with any of those puny American beers unless I have to. Tonight, I had one of my favs, a Negra Modelo with my enchilladas. Don't care much for the "big" beer from Mexico, but Modelo makes a fine brew.

If I could only have one brew, it would have to be a Guiness.

That's one beer I've never been a fan of, Guiness. Even if it's cold, still tastes warm.

I can live with a Bud light, or a Coors light...but only under protest.

But don't even get me started about Bud Light Lime....yuck!

A slice of Lime in a Corona is O.K.when chilling on the beach, but them adding the lime flavor to the beer is just ludicris. To each his on I reckon.

I guess its either an acquired taste or being Irish such as me.

One of the first dark lagers that I tasted was Voodoo Blackened Lager. Its almost like a porter. Here is a great review of this beer...

"Pours very dark almost like coffee with obout a one finger head...

Smell of deep burnt caramel as you expect from an all-malt brew...

Taste is like a well brewed dark roasted chocolate coffee with a hint of burnt ends."

If you can find this beer, made by the Dixie Brewing Company, give it a try. But beware, the burnt taste will turn you off at first, but then the after taste comes and rewards you for sticking around.

Those Porters are a different breed. The thick taste takes a time to get used to, but I found them to be a good cold weather beer. I discovered a Micro brew in Montana called Moose Drool that I really liked. We'll, at that point in my life I liked a lot of different brews. Out west is where I discovered the micro brews, and there are a lot of them. It was awesome to sample all of the different brews crafted in all the little nooks and crannies of the west and northeast.

I don't care for the heavy, dark beers like Guiness where you have to chew before swallowing, nor do I care for ales. Two friends do home brewing and I love visiting them, one owns a brewing supply store. His beers are exceptional.
If not theirs I settle for Coors or Busch. I don't do light beers, I'm not worried about my figure.:beerbang::D

Moose Drool used to be popular by many fans of the old Trans Am Series, those that didn't know any better. Paul Gentilozzi used to drink LaBlatts light, I know, I bought him a case at Mosport for a favor he did us. Canada makes som e good brew. The best Beer in North America though is Straubs, made in St.Mary's, PA. http://www.straubbeer.com/

It is unpatriotic to drink beer made outside North America. :D

I'm a big fan of American Micro Brews, anything like Bud or Bid Light I don't consider a beer. They have way too many preservatives in them, I drink one and I have a bad headache withing 20 minutes. Dogfishead is a great brewery out of Deleware, they make some of the best IPAs i have tasted, big fan of their 90 and 120. Another great beer is Hogs Heaven , they are out of Colorado, 9.5% barley wine style brew. Very smooth , but they will sneak up on you being that they are a higher octane beer.

Traveling all over the country over the road, I get to experience a lot of the local brews.

But I really do enjoy Modelo Especial or Negro Modelo along with Killians or some of the darker beers.

I like a beer that has little bit of bite to it. Something that you can feel on your tongue.

Never did see anything special about Corona. Just Mexican light beer with a lot of hype.

I definitely prefer anything Canadian. Moosehead or Molson are my favorites, which one depends on which one is available and cold at the moment. ;) Labatt will do in a pinch. Also, if nothing Canadian is available, Bud or Bud Light will suffice.

I don't drink nearly as much as I used to. I had a real problem with moderation many years ago. I too quit for about 15 years, but started again in serious moderation. I haven't had more than 4 in one day since. I don't really wish to get drunk any more. I also will go months without drinking at all. With friends, at christmas parties, or just when the mood strikes me. Once in a great while I will have a few when my back is really spasming, it helps to relax the muscles, ya know.

A almost never drink more that a couple. Every once in a while, if there's a party or something maybe. But I have 1 (maybe 2, depending) with dinner just about every night (which explains my great health). I just really, really like the taste of beer, more so that the end result of drinking a lot.

If you havent had it..Dogfish Head 90 minute imperial IPA. Also, any seasonal from St.Arnolds is good. Blue Moon, Abita Turbodog, Shiner Hefeweizen...Paulaner Salvator Double Bock..the list is long. I keep a variety in the box so I can choose day to day.:beerbang:

Olde Frothingslosh, the pale, stale ale with the foam on the bottom. never get your mustache wet in foam.

It is a beer from the fifties. Look it up.

Dogfish 80 is awesome if you like that try the 120, stuff is very smooth expensive , but worth it to experience the taste.

My favorite beer is Corona with lime. 2nd favorite..Bud Lite w/Lime. 3rd Favorite - Miller Genuine Draft Lite

Bud lite lime?! Are you kidding me? That's got to be one of the worst ideas budweiser has ever come out with.

Apparently not. Obviously it is a good idea. DanicaRules obviously isn't the only one drinking the stuff. I see a lot of that stuff in shopping carts where I shop. I can't stand the thought of it, but I'm not the group they are going for.

No, Budweiser did thier homework on this beer, it is the closest thing to a Corona that you can get. I dont like Budweiser, Bud Light either, cant stand those but I enjoy thier lime beer.

I disagree. I like Corona (as well as can be) with real lime in it. But bud lite lime just tastes so processed, it's not any good.

There was a study by Penthouse magazine many years ago about beer, what was the best, worst etc. They surveyed several people and the results were very strange. But that was a good thirty years ago, but one fact that came out is probably still true today and that is, 80% of beer is drank by 20% of the drinkers. That definitely says there is a lot of binge drinking. One thing that I've learned in my 61 years is that much beer is drank for one reason. But the last 20 years have given beer drinkers a lot more than just getting blitzed. And like wine and fine spirits, many people need to develop a taste for the various types of beers. But, to do this, the beer drinker has to have that adventurous spirit and that won't happen if they are satisfied with their light brew.

Stella Artois draft is really good when it's ice cold. I don't drink beer too often but I like the ales and stouts, too. The best selling beer in the world is Bud Light but I don't like it.

My opinion is..if you have to put lime, salt, orange, lemon, whatever into your beer to make it taste good, it obviusly isnt very tasty beer to begin with.:beerbang: I take my tequila without all that junk too. Just an ice cube. Cazadores Reposado. Delicious.:D

Patron or Don Julio for me chilled no lime or salt either...don't need training wheels!
