The biggest name still in purgatory for next season. Where do folks think he ends up?

That's a tough call and I hate to say it but I think the Nationwide series.

And thats sad. A guy who 2 years ago made the Chase and got 6 poles in second rate equipment.

I was hopefully Jay Frye could do it again. Brian has Talent, just nobody has the funding to manage it, i guess.

Brian Who? Nothing against him, but that's what the sponsors will be saying.

I don't think that sponsors will have trouble recognizing his name. He's been around long enough to have gained some notariety. But he has not distinguished himself with his results so far - no matter the reasons behind those results. If Sadler can take the step to N'wide, Vickers can too.

Meanwhile, Paul Menard will continue his CUP career...

Compare this season between the two. Menard has one win, 4 top fives and 7 top tens.

Vickers has no wins, 2 top fives and 6 top tens.

Your next statement will be... "Well if Vickers was in an RCR car he would have done better."

And my response is, if he was good enough RCR might have hired him already or would be considering him for next season.

Vickers, say hello to Nationwide.

BV had an opportunity with Hendrick, remember? And he wrecked a teammate (Johnson) and Joonyer for his only win in the 25 car.

How many other drivers have been successful in that car?

Remember, after 2009, they swapped the 88 (25) and 5 team. Even Mark Martin can't win races in what is the old 25 car.

Tim Richmond
9 Poles
9 Wins
16 top 5's
21 top 10's
In 37 starts in the 25
And to short a career :(

Kenny Schrader
17 Poles
4 Wins
58 top 5's
127 top 10's
In 267 starts in the 25

Also don't forget after the 24 team came along the 25 team was transfered to Poppa Hendricks and was basicly ran as a test mule/crew training team for many years. Although there where two drivers who became unemployed for not following team orders.

So you've gone back, what, 20 years?

I don't care how you put it, Vickers has never been in top-notch equipment.

Don't put words where there not present! NO Where did I say Bryan Vickers was in "top-notch" equipment. The 25 has been Hendrick test/development/***** team for 20 yrs Thats why you have to go back that far to see good results!

I'm the one who mentioned Vap-O-Rub's tenure with HMS. Still, even as a development team for HMS, his equipment was better than half of the field, wouldn't you think?

He deserves a cup ride, a bad economy, fortune and timing hurts him.

Still, I am not seeing a top 10 type, my own POV rates him somewhere between 11 to 20ish.

I am thinking Nationwide for 2012.

Going to Nationwide full time wouldn't be the end of the world. I'd rather be competitive in Nationwide than run in the back in Cup.

I never drank the Brian Vickers Kool Aid. I'm not really a fan of his. I still think he should be in the Cup series though and deserves a ride somewhere. It just doesn't look like there is a place for him so Nationwide is probably the best option if he finds a fit there.

He could be very valuable to an upstart or struggling Nationwide with his past champions provisional.

Starting and parking in Sprint Cup pays more than winning in Nationwide. Several start and park drivers have accumulated more than the Nationwide Series points leader.

Joe Nemecheck, 64th in points in Cup, has earned more than twice what Stenhouse has this season.

Wouldn't you need to know their contract salaries to get a full story or report.

Plus the future possibilities, if Stenhouse gets the championship he has a lot to offer any future deal, maybe through Rousch or someone else.

Maybe even better positioned than a Vickers. A Start and Park deal might want a commitment, while being more limited to expand than Nationwide deal.

I am thinking there isn't a set rule, a S & P deal has a stigma, while running near the front in a Nationwide gains positive attention. But I don't think Elliott Sadler helped himself this year in a Harvick car.

Sadler is SECOND in points (I know that CUP drivers are excluded) with a chance to win the Championship. I'd say he's done OK in N'wide this year...

I guess I'm old school. I'd rather battle for wins and make less money than make more but only be a field filler.

30 races no W's, 11 of them top 5s but 0-11 with getting the W.

That may be ok, and if it was easy everybody would. But for a cup veteran with some strong years in the past, I can't see 2011 elevating his status.

Shouldn't a cup veteran hoping to reassert his status, and to make cup owners reconsider his value be expected to dominate, even stink up the show?
As a veteran the need to outshine a younger Stenhouse should be very apparent.
Maybe I am reading him wrong, and he resigned himself to staying in Nationwide.

Who knows, he might win tonight and make me eat my words.

Back to Vickers, if does go Nationwide I would think the same need to dominate exists. There has to be a difference otherwise a young gun around 20 years old with similar Nationwide current results should be the obvious pick for a cup owner.

I Agree Completely! But at the same time I feel for the little guys running shoestring teams with little to no sponsor support battling the 3 and 4 car teams with 20 MILLION $$$$ Sponsors.

How would you feel? or what would you do? if the options where:

A: Give it Hell Go For Broke for one race cause thats all we can afford, if something does break Your racing seasons over.

B: Get in a good qualifying run make the feild and a few bucks and Hope a prospective sponsor notices, then park it, saving the car to try again next week in case no one steps up with some greenbacks.

Personaly I've always been the Go Down in a Ball of Fire type......but on reflection that did'nt really work out :owquitit:

Morgan Shepard is a great example of your opinion, Flash. He was an S&P in CUP but qualifies and races in N'wide - and I applaud him for sticking with it!
