Bristol to be resurfaced: Lowe's Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedeay are not the only tracks being resurfaced. Jeff Byrd, the President of Bristol Motor Speedway told MRN Radio's NASCAR Today that his track will get resurfaced after the Food City 500 in March. "It's kinda like screwing around with the formula for Coca-Cola. I don't know whether we're tinkering with a formula that doesn't need to be changed. We would like to reconfigure the track so the top lane so the top lane can carry more speed onto the straight-a-ways off of 2 and 4."(MRN Radio NASCAR Today)

Repaved probably isn't the right word since it's a concrete track. That piece didn't mention if the track will be changed to asphalt or remain concrete.

something needs to be done, BMS is my "home track" you can see the track from my inlaws house. have been goin to races there since 67 haven't missed but 2 since 79. my point the racin at BMS ain't even close to what it was when it was asphalt. the only problem with the asphalt was when it gets hot the track tends to come apart going into 1 and 3 outside of that the racing was outstanding !

The racing there the last couple of years has fallen off. I hope they can do something to produce a higher groove.

it's concrete because of the way concrete and asphalt react differently to the weather swings. TMS had a smimlar problem to chunking, but when they repaved it they used a special composite.
