Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and this is my first post.

Question,,,,,, I am going to Bristol and staying in Abingdon. Anyone know any traffic shortcuts or roads to stay away from and the best places to park in Bristol.... Looking for the in's and out's and where to stay away from's......

Can't help much. Only been to Bristol once. But I didn't find the traffic that bad. Nowhere near as bad as Talladaga. :beerbang:

there ain't any really good short cuts from abington unless you really know the area well. i would sugguest you get an early start as you will have to travel I-81 then 11E
good luck and have fun, by the way park in one of the off site parking areas, on the side of the road you will be taking when you leave.

That is great advice. It is difficult to park on the opposite side of which you'll be leaving. The main road going by the track comes to a complete halt for some time while pedestrian traffic leaves the track. Since you'll be coming from the north side of the track, park on that side. And cross the highway to park on the same side as the track. Crossing from one direction to the opposite is a pain. They usually close down the median crossovers.

Avoid the larger lots. There is usually only one or two ways out of them and it doesn't take long to get backed up at the exits. Don't park in the residental neighborhoods. They are as bad, if not worse, than the big lots. I've made these mistakes before, I try to keep others from making them too.

We always park in the White Top lot. It's right across the street from the track, and they shuttle you back and forth, free too.

I haven't been to Bristol, but good lord all the other tracks I've been to have been hell getting out. Charlotte and Dover were the WORST. :p

I must have lucked out my only trip to Charlotte. It wasn't too bad.

There's a secret back way out of Charlotte! I'll have to pull out my maps to remember the name of the highway, but you head north on Morehead road and you get to it and then can turn left to wind up at the interstate headed north or turn right and take it back into Charlotte. It's waorked great for me since I stumbled on to it at the Winston 2 years ago.

I can't think of it either TonyB. We discovered it last Season. We got out real easy which surprised me.

Thanks

Thanks for all the information. Sorry to be so long getting back......
Keep it coming....
